I also like the look of black chrome which is one reason I got the Speedmaster instead of the America. I realy liked the black out engine and transmission parts. I would be leary about it lasting especialy on all the leading edges and any sharp edges that are in wwear areas etc. You see most often even on expensive auto where the "black chrome" is coming off. Not that good looking when its part black chrome and part chrome.
I've worked with specialty coatings most of my working carrier so thats my two cents worth.

There is no black chrome on a SM that I know of. Or at least i have not seen it.. What i am wanting to do it take a BA and replace all the regular chrome, engine covers, sproket cover, vavle cover, rims, spokes, hubs etc etc. I think it will look pretty cool, just woundering if anyone had ever used the stuff. As in is it something I can do, or am i better off sending off to get done.. I have found a a place that sells a kit, but would hate to waste the money ya know.

never personally had anything done in black chrome but I like the looks. My '83 Kaw GPz550 came with black chrome exhaust pipes. They still look pretty good for this many years. But I would agree with another's comment about sharp edges wearing fast.

I don't know everything about anything, but I know a bit. I've done some chroming. The process of triple chroming involves first copper plating, then nickle plating, finally chrome (actually transparent) plating. The prep work is the difficult part. Ever try to strip old chrome off? Trust me, enjoy your beautiful chrome on your bike. Spend the three hundred hours it would take just to strip your parts riding.
