I ran across this today http://www.sportvue.com/motorcycles. Its a heads up display for your helmet. It seems pretty cool, but, I would think it may also be distracting. Soren

It would be nice if we also got a blinking dot telling us the turn signals are on and another one if the oil lamp comes on. I guess the toughest part about these devices is integration of the data feeds from your bike. It's tough to make it generic unless the manufacturers come out with a standard information protocol.

I think it'd be cool, there was supposedly some suzuki muscle sport bike that came with a helmet that had all that gadgetry. Then BMW has some helmet, or is coming out with one, that has an integrated sound system, bluetooth capable, all kinds of gizmo stuff.

I'd just a soon NOT have the view of the roadway partly obscured like that in a tight right turn. Besides, on a real motorcycle with real pipes, you can easily tell your speed within 5MPH by sound and feel.

The helmet display turn signal/oil pressure light sounds much more practical. Especially since our stock advisory lights are pretty underwhelming in the sunlight. It'd be even cooler if this technology could be integrated through Bluetooth or other means (at a reasonable price - keyword "reasonable") into goggles and sunglasses.

A heads up display will normally not obsure your vision as when you look beyond it at the road it is virtually transparant when not in focus. Heads up stuff is cool, but I agree that interfacing all the relavant info would be a real challenge, considering the unwillingness of bike manufactures to even standardize anything between models, let alone brands.
