Whoa! I just found this place. I have been skimming triumphrat.com for info about purchasing a Bonneville when one of the members brought this site up. I thought I was dead set on a Bonnie T-100....till NOW! I had no idea what you guys are doing with the Americas. My biggest questions concerned my style of riding and bike. Forwards and Apes are simply a must for me. And quite honestly, after skimming your photo section, I believe that the America may be the bike for me. I am Psyched. I am a current Harley owner and I am gonna have a lot of questions. I just wanted to introduce myself first. Thanks, Neil

Welcome to the site, Neil! Hope we convince you to buy one of the best bikes around. And be prepared to get some good natured ribbing about the Harley. (One thing about us BA riders, we just plain love bikes! All of them!)

Welcome Neil. The Speedmaster and the America are not only the two best bikes that Triumph builds, they are the two best bikes on the planet.

I'm amazed (and gratified) that you were able to see a reference to this site there before it got deleted...

Neil, You've come to the right place if you like forward controls and apes. Plenty of folks on this site have apes and the bikes only come with forward controls. Once you ride an America or Speedy you'll understand why we love them.

Thanks for the welcome. I'll tell you guys the same thing I posted on the rat site. I am a current Shovelhead owner. I only have the room and for 1 bike right now, so I am selling the Shovel to get another bike, while I work on building a custom bike. I am a prior Triumph owner in my youth, and really have wanted another one, and getting a Sportster just ain't doin' it for me. So a Triumph is in the works. I had no idea you guys were customizing them this way and they look great. Many are done just as I intend to do one, as soon as I sell my bike. So I will have a bunch of questions in the upcoming weeks. Also, what is the deal with pictures, both viewing and posting. I tried to post in my sig and I noticed none of the classifieds had them. Is there a posting rule???
edit: Hey, yeah, thats me 25 years ago with my Tiger and a shot of the Shovel. How'd you do that? Thanks, Neil

Welcome Neil,
Good luck on selling the bike and getting on an America. Some of the stuff that people have done to their bikes here is quite amazing and lots can be learned. As you can see we welcome new people and love the enthusiasm that you bring to the board.
As for the classifieds yes you can post pictures to any ad but for some reason people choose not to or can't figure out how to do it. I and many others have helped them but not all choose to do it. With your membership here you do get space in the PhotoPost section of this site (link at the top of the page) to host your own photos and you can link to other off site photo as well.

Deals can be had on used trumpets. Might you consider a used one? The newer models are all screwed up anyways. (Just ribbing some members here.)
Room issues blow. Your shovel shore is purty.
RE photos, you must know the web address of the photo. Then preceed that address with [image] and proceed that address with [/image]
For example, your tiger would be posted as [image]http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee283/blackconvt/Me.jpg[/image]
The reason the image doesn't appear in this post is because I didn't allow UBB code in this particular post.

Neil, this is the sight for you brother,I am starting to tweek my 07 speedmaster this spring, and thanks to the fine folks on this sight I am ready to go with not spending oodles of cash for crap i thought i might like or want, unless it was a warranty item I wont even bother with a the dealer now( mind you its 800 miles away). My wife says i am addicted to this sight,is that a bad thing I told her! Its just friggin interesting and helpful, and i have never had a post or question unanswered. In the twent some odd years since I moved up north I have seen 1 triumph! gets a little lonely since most of my friends have hogs.Sure i get a bit of a ribbin but thats cool I can see it in thier eyes when we pull in off the highway somewhere and even the hd owners walk right by them up to my black shiny speedy and say thats a triumph! In in my canuck responding way i will reply, friggin eh! brother friggin eh!Have a good one Neil you come to the right place. Mike AKA......northernmac

I will definetly be looking for used for 2 reasons. 1. I have yet to see a neglected, left out in the rain, beat to crap "slightly used" Triumph. Eveyone I have ever seen has been pampered and well taken care of. And 2. If I'm gonna chop it up I might as well start with a bike that someone else has spent money on the parts I am probably gonna be looking to purchase anyways (exhaust, chrome, saddlebags, intake ect...). And we all know, you loose your butt once you customize a bike. So I hope to cash in on that. But till I have cash in hand I'll just be that annoying wannabe with too many question.....sigh.

Welcome Neil. There is a wealth of camaraderie and info here for all, with rides and rallies above & beyond expectations We're blessed here too with cool & tolerant mods, very much unlike another Triumph site whose name, Rat something or other, I won't mention. (Did I say that out loud?) Enjoy!

Well, Americas and Speedmasters come with forward controls and fat rear tires, so you're almost there to start with when you get one of those. The America comes with what we used to call 'western' bars. Not ape hangers, but comfortable. The bar diameter is the same as most Harleys, so you can go as tall as you like. You can get custom length cables from a number of sources, so no problem there.

I think there is a used Billy Joel bike around here somewhere. It has some accessories on it.
But seriously, welcome. I just joined myself not to long ago, and I love it. Great resource. I never even go to that other not to be named site.

I like that. I made the upper shrouds black, reduced the size of the headlight (I bought a 5 3/4" unit), bent the speedo down and added the Kuryakyn retro bullet turn signals that I also bought. My bike is still going to be significantly different than this, but I wanted to see the black shrouds and lower legs with gators. I dig it. I hope it warms up around here soon -- I need to get out in the garage...

Welcome! As far as buying a Speedy or America, brand new ones at retail are a bargain, used pricing makes them an absolute steal.

Welcome to the site, Neil.
From what you're saying about the ways you're looking to customize a Triumph, it looks like you've figured out that BA.com is definitely the place for you to hang. As you've seen, there are a whole lot o' people around here who have done some really cool things to their BAs and Speedies and who will be very helpful in answering any questions in that process.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Nope, I really am. In fact, before 9 years of fighting cancer slowed me down, I was a pretty good one.
