Hi All, I need ideas / photos / pictures ASAP for the best Bobber paint scheme for our bikes? I was thinking black back ground, with scallops of either pearl white with red pin-stripping, or metallic red/burgundy with gold pin-stripping. Help please ASAP because all my panels are at the painters getting primed tomorrow and I need to decide in the next 20hrs!!!!

Satin brown and khaki satin army green and khaki something a bit different I'd say, just cause youre going for the "bobber" look doesnt mean you have to conform to a specific color combination. Theres a fine line between tradition and trend. Check out my "bobber-esqe"america with the full length rear fender...not a bobber at all....but is it painted like one? some say yes, some say no. If I had the money.... by the way, if you email me pics of your bike i can photoshop some different schemes for you.

I like the red, black, white but seems to be default bobber colours. I saw one with matte black and a high gloss off white, very cool and very simple. Also 2-tone green? How about baby blue and off white? Check out the Jockey Journal picture threads for what colour schemes look best. http://www.jockeyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26975Ceuls

I'm doing matte British Racing green with pale green racing stripes and lime green pinstriping. Oh, and green bulldogs on the tank, no emblems. Paint's already bought. Click my blog link in the sig for a preview of the color scheme and graphics. I used it to redesign the blog theme.

I think I'd like to see red oxide primer with gloss black and white pinstripes.

I've always liked a matte black base with gloss black graphics, either flames or scallops or whatever. Looks like Larkfarms has something like that:

I always liked the checkerboard rally stripe...Something off center.
But I do have to say that the flat with the glossy graphics (like the black one above) is pretty hot ******. I'd like to see that in flashier color. Maybe an orange with a pearly orange gradient on the edges of the flames....

Thanks heaps everyone! Some good ideas there, I think I've decided to go black background, with white scollops and red pin striping. It won't really be bobber style, but the colours at least with be old school. Also I think I want gloss, due to a previous bike I had satin black always seemed to polish off in some areas and look miss-matched. At least gloss will be OK to wash and polish. What do you all think? (any critisism welcome)

First off, I like where you are headed with this... A comment to consider: Based on the drawings, it looks like you might be trying to use a tank badge other than the stock Triumph. If so you might want to consider how the silver scallop is positioned. When I went with an older, classic tank badge I really hated how it lined up with the scallop. Everything looked off to me. I had been wanting to repaint the bike so I made sure that my tank design lined up with the replacement badge. The first photo below shows the old-style tank badge with the original paint. The second photo shows the bike after the new paint (same badge). For me the original scallop with the old badge just looked funny. I researched some old paint styles and went with a mid-60's Triumph style. Since you are going to repaint anyway, you might want to consider how your badge is going to look when placed. Of course, if you are using the stock badge, then it should be very consistent with the factory look. Steven

Thanks again guys for your compliments and suggestions, Well I just visited the paint shop and dropped of the eyebrow badges (thanks Steven) and discussed the paint options. My final descision was the tank and rear guard out of my first picture, with the front guard reversed (white at front) out of the second picture.
And to Darrin, I also had my front guard removed until i got a warning from a police officer, thats why I have fitted a 21" front fender to keep it as minimal as possible!
I also decided that plain gloss white would be better that pearl white which I originally intended to do.
So now it is in the hands of the painter to mark it out and paint, hopefully I will be able to show you the results this weekend!

Yes, In Oz a fender is required by law, it is something like a $100 fine if you don't have one! :-(

Steven, thats kinda the idea I had. The split tank look seems to work well with the classic badge.

i had a feeling that was the color...thats one of those colors where you'd get looks from only the people into cars and bikes, and any regular old dude off the street would think youre in on the way to the paint shop..ahah

****** yeah, i'd like it more like a satin, but thats definately a toss up for me between that and brown. I think overall you'd have to have some more green in there somewhere, like the headlight and lower forks, or upper shrouds and the sprocket cover and rear swingarm
