Need some help. I trailered my BA on a long trip & when I went to start it I had to keep cranking it for about 5 minutes before I could get it started. I have a brand new battery & was getting spark. Anybody have any ideas on what might cause this? I'm puzzled.

Sounds like either no gas flow, bad gas, or choke not engaging. Hard to pinpoint by internet. Does it start okay now?

Hopefully you got her going by now. She was probably just PO'd at you for trailoring her. Isn't that why we refer to bikes as "She"?

Yea, I finally got "her" started. I agree that she seemed upset with me that I didn't ride her. I also think that the fact that she was trailered along side a crotch rocket really pissed her off. I promised her I wouldn't do it again & she has performed ever since.YUK YUK.

Any chance the petcock was left open? If so, bouncing along on a trailer may have sloshed enough gas into the intake system to flood the engine. On the Velocette and the 650 Triumph I had years ago, tickling the Amals just a little too long would mean a 50 kick start instead of the normal 1 or 2.

When I first tried to start her I thought maybe I had left the petcock open. But I did shut her off before strapping her in the trailer. It seemed to me that she was starved for gas or maybe that it was just the opposite & was flooded. I leave for home in a couple of days & have to trailer her again. I will wait & see if the problem happens again. She really has not been tempermental before this happened.

Thanks to whoever suggested using less choke when starting cold during warm weather. The bike fires up a bit quicker on just a quarter yank of the choke, and I'm not washing oil off the cyliners as much to boot. Mahhvelous!
