greetings from fellow teamster here in greater seattle area.mowed Dave Becks lawn in sheridian beach north of seattle when 10 years old and was impressed with His generousity and wealth. He told me to join teamsters when old enough and to always work union jobs.Joined at 19 as swamper on furniture truck, became a driver at 21,worked freight for 25 more years for 3 different companies, then became a driver for Darigold dairy another 16 years and retired at 62 with 43 years of service.Although I worked for 5 companies lifetime(4 out of business today...not my fault!)all of my pension contributions went to western conference teamster pension plan...today I receive more than I earned including retirees health coverage..I am grateful for all the benefits,etc...besides the monthly checks,my retirement watch and all the security I have,my most cherished possesion is a 1/25 model truck and trailer signed personally "best wishes--Jimmy Hoffa".The unions may not be as strong as they once were but be thankful for Holidays, vacations, heath care,40 work weeks,overtime,401/retirement plans, due process termination hearings, uniforms, safety gear...all the result of companies/goverment wishing to keep unions out!

life is good..I am retired..sold my America in 2008,bought a Rocket and sold that in 3/2013 and now own a new Triumph Bonneville T-100

Think you are refering to the truckers union??
Had a teamsters jacket many years ago, 1972 ish was brought back for me by some family who travelled a lot. was a prize possession until some TOERAG theived it at the drag racing at Melbourne near YORK(UK) in the mid 70's.
Shame really as I would have loved to let my Daughter have it as she Has been driving HGV class 1 (full artic) now for 8 months and she loves it. Not bad in UK,for a girl only just 23yrs last week. Worst problem here is not much choice for work due to lack of experiance? ? ? and too young for most company insurance.... below 25? ? ? go figure.
Cheers, Mike.

I was a Teamster for 12 years then took a managment job with the same company. Now I'm in charge of a bunch of Teamsters. It is a fact that the people who benefit the most from the existence of unions are non union employees. All of the benefits they enjoy(without paying dues) are the direct result of union barganing in competetive industry. I'm quick to remind those people of this when I hear them dogging unions. Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle" is a great book depicting the meat packing industry before the rise of service unions.
