One of my nephews and his wife have home schooled and still are. Quite successfully too. Their oldest graduated college (SMU) in the top of his class last year. The younger two are in "high school". There are great resources available for those who wish to do this.
It does take a strong commitment on the part of the parents and it's not for everyone.
I know several couples who simply could not do it, and their children's education suffered for it.
Do lots of research, and talk to people who have done so successfully, as well as those who were not able to find out if it's for you.
If you decide to do it, you have to be able to honestly evaluate your results. And don't hesitate to employ a tutor if needed.
Good luck to you.

Your right I should not ask questions on a "message forum". how dare I start a thread on a "message board" . Was just looking for some info someone may have had on Travel nursing, or home schooling. Seeing as how I dont know anyone here who does the home schooling thing I tohught maybe some of you may have. But I see the error of my ways. I must have been out of my mind to think that you would ask genreal questions in the "lounge" section of a "message board".. its not just you I am talking to. I have gotten a few pm's from other members who feel i post to much..

well I presume that was to me not to bigbill as he took his shot at me not you, and while yes you did post this in the lounge if it were a single thing no big deal, but if you feel the need to discuss EVERY aspect of your life start a blog and if you want put a link to it in your sig line so then those of us who care can read it thats fine. But in the meantime... well im sure you can guess how I feel.

Personally I think you should post what you want when you want with in the rules and if anyone doesn't want to read then they don't have to click the link. Nothing wrong with looking for advice.

Usually I do not chime in on alot of stuff. For some reason I feel like I should. If you dont want to read what someone posts then dont read it. Just like the TV or movies....if you dont like it dont watch it. The last I checked there is a thing called Freedom of Speech.

Geez thanks, I forgot about the first amendment. My comment had nothing to do with that, in fact I mentioned that he could FULLY excerise that right in a blog.
If he has a question thats fine, MY question is to ask why he needs to waste server space by asking them all on here, really can his life be that horrible that he needs an endless amount of advice from people on the internet?
I bet its no worse then the rest of ours.
PS: Thanks again for the 1st amendment right, I almost didn't reply, but you reminded me that I have the right to so I might as well waste some server space too.

Personally, I enjoy Ditchy's day to day blogs. It is like talking to/at a friend. I don't get on this site just to learn technical things (which has really been great!, thanks to all!) I read nearly all of the new posts, although there are a few I haven't read because the topic doesn't interest me, i.e., computers, guitars, to name a couple of recent topics. This is the only site I read, and I enjoy it because it is a COMMUNITY with PEOPLE who like to TALK! You keep posting, I'll keep reading.

...We now return you to the Mark and Matt Drive-Time Radio Program already in progress...........
(remember Matt..."He who lives by the sword....!")
Look Matt, the way I see it, we should all be proud of the fact that Matthew thinks enough of us around here and also considers us friends enough around here that he sometimes asks our opinion about some of the choices he's making.

DD I've not been posting in here as much recently as for a long time it hurt to sit at the 'puter for long enough to read everything...and replying added more time. I've read how you've been $hit on by what seems like everyone in the world around you. The only people who hadn't were the good people on here. So it's only natural to ask question to the people who hadn't $hit on you. I read the post before you'd deleted it and I was actually jealous. Doing a job that it sounded like you were gonna love and if you got bored of a place move on. Sounds ideal to me. Sod every one else. I'd have been posting as much as you over the last 3 months....if I could have sat down long enough to post as much. Now where's my painkillers...

I know this was directed at Matt, but I was too busy being passed out drunk last night.
DD can post all he wants, I have no problem with that, but I do wonder why anyone would reveal the intimate details of their private life on a motorcycle forum for anybody to read. Maybe he's just looking for sympathy from a random group of strangers, I dunno...
Maybe that's just me, because when I have a hardship in my life, I call a real friend, not seek comfort in a group of total strangers whom I've never met. We're a group of like minded people who meet on a motorcycle forum, not a support group or a help hotline.

I often am not really interested in some of Ditch_Dr's threads, however, having said that, I feel he should be able to post whatever he feels like posting without criticism.
Only HE chooses what he wants to post about (of course, within the limit's of this board's rules).
Server space shouldn't be made an issue, there is ample crapola on this board anyhow and any one member shouldn't be singled out ... at least not for this reason.

If you post, be prepared for a position counter to yours. Thats the way it works in the real world. One persons rude behavior is another persons constructive advice.
I can't read the original post anymore so how would this ever stay ON topic. It will ramble along hurting feelings.
This thread should be deleted!
I will help it along.

To all,
I was wondering when the 'freedom of speech' and 'user rights' arguments would come up and I was not disappointed.
If this was a public forum financed by your tax dollars, I would agree with those. However, this private board is a benevolent oligarchy at best, funded by private donations in the distant past (some in the near past too, and in a very small way, by patch sales).
There are no rights, no freedom of speech. Everything here exists or doesn't by virtue of the interpretations of the moderators as appropriate content or not.
You might think this is heavy handed and unfair. Doesn't matter, that's the way it is. I challenge anyone to visit ANY other board out there right now and show me how they treat the members with more fairness and equanimity than here.
and yes Ron, you get your wish.
