G'day, First of all I would like to say hello as I am new to this forum.
I have a question in regards to the 2008 America.
I am looking at getting a 2008 America with EFI, however I wish to know if this model has Metal Guards (I'll be getting the bike in Australia)?
The reason why I'm asking this is because I read that the Bonnie now has plastic guards (not sure if this is correct), so I'm now wondering if this is also the case for America.
Thanks in advance for your feed back. Report Post to Moderator

Mike,
Welcome to the site - You will have to excuse our American cousins, they don't always understand the Queen's english!
The front mud guard on an America is plastic (always has been) but the rear is metal. Don't let this put you off getting one though.
Good luck
Shaun

You got that right!! I thought I spoke English until I tried having a conversation with a British Seaman. We were using the same words but they sure didn't have the same meanings.
Yes! I am a Redneck. Any Problems?

Reminds me of my British marines story. We were doing a joint field training operation and about 3 of them came up to our medical tent, they said "Hey you guys got any fags?" About 5 of us went balistic. Turns out "fags" mean cigarettes... almost ruined our "joint" op cooperation before it started. We were great friends after we figured out our "language" barrier... who knew.
Black '06 Speedmaster, BUB of course.

Thanks guys for letting me know about the 'Fenders'! I've really got the bug and can not wait until I get my bike. Hopefully the EFI is problem free.
I spoke to the Dealer and I should get my bike by the end of this month

there's not much dought that the EFI is the way to go,,, i have a '07 BA and if it sits for 2-3 weeks and it is cold,, it does'nt "start right up",, like a EFI "junky ole' yamaha" will. with the "new "tank design and EFI",, the EFI just MIGHT outweigh some of that!!!!! i personally think ,you gonna have a real nice ride....
some people are like slinkies, they serve no purpose, but, they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
