Well, after pulling the only snorkel and doing the cut out UniFilter mod, I tackled rejetting. It went reasonably well (thanks to Dinqua for the step by step instructions, never would have tackled it without them). Using his calculator, I changed to 132 mains and left everything else the same. I went out for a test drive on Saturday, and it certainly made a difference. The best way I can describe it is that it felt less restricted, more free. Definitely more pickup through the middle gears. But I haven't ridden enough to really even know what to look for. I was wondering what was the best way to tell if I am running optimally. I seen some posts about looking at the color of the plugs, dynos and the like. Just wanted to get some feedback from others who have been there and done it already. Thanks...

The way I see it and do it is to look at the plugs until you think you have it dialed in. Then put it on a dyno to see where you stand.

What is the best way to check the plugs? Can I just pull them out and get a good indicator? I've seen posts talking about running the bike wide open and then cutting it off and then checking them, or something like that ... any help will be appreciated.

That's called a plug chop and it's the best way to check plugs. You can do it at different throttle positions. Get to speed, kill the motor and pull in the clutch, coast to side of road.

Have a pair of thick leather gloves with you as everything will be hot.

Plug chop is totally unnesisary , you can ride normally and when you stop check them. It takes time to color plugs,if you doubt this put a brand new set of plugs in and run it a short distance and pull them, they will still be white.(I'm not talking miles) If you suspect a mid range problem ride the bike around for awhile at mostly 1/2 throttle give or take then when you stop check them, same with any throttle position but you can just stop normally it really won't effect the plug color.
