Was riding with one of these yesterday. He ran even with me all the time. Fast, fast, little bike. Now I look it up. How on earth did they do that with that little bit of horses and torque? 1/4 mile time is faster than us so much faster than many other Japan inc. bikes today. specifications here

It's at least 100 lbs lighter to start with and has a killer final gear ratio: Virago: 1st:2.294:1 2nd:1.666:1 3rd:1.285:1 4th:1.032:1 5th:0.852:1
America/Speedmaster 1st 2.73:1 2nd 1.95:1 3rd 1.55:1 4th 1.29:1 5th 1.07:1
And, the drive shaft gives it a little bit of an advantage in the final power transfer efficiency.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

I imagine its a real vibrator to ride any distance but it surely got my attention in the performance department.
I see in 4th and 5th where it compensates for the lack of HP.

Yeah, the wife had one several years ago. It was quick, but not much fun to ride. Vibrated like crazy and anything over 50 MPH and it felt like it was about to fly into a million pieces. She has a 750 Virago now. Entirely different. Much more torque and smoother as well.
