On my '04 the side stand spring attaches to the stand at a triangular gusset midway along the underside of the stand and to a round head bolt/post on the underside of the frame adjacent to the side stand mount. You could probably use a hose clamp as a temporary cure for an attachment point but I'm guessing you'll need a new mount to make a proper repair.

Those Pinwall Cycle folks always seem to be parting out at least one model of our bikes all of the time. I finally put their eBay store in my bookmarks so I can check in every week, never know what you're going to need.

Yep, I figured you put a hose clamp around the frame to give the spring something to attach to until you can get the proper part. I haven't looked closely but I was hoping you wouldn't have to get the entire left side engine cradle...

can you drill that spot and thread it for a round headed machine screw? Put a little locktite on it and you should be good to go.

I just crawled under mine to take a close look and there's not much meat where the ball is (was in your case) attached; it looks like it would be pretty weak if you drilled it out big enough to insert a sturdy bolt.
There is an open space on the engine frame directly above that spot so you might have to weld a new tab there to capture the spring end. Anyway, a hose clamp and a "L" bracket would definitely be a temporary workaround; the frame leg of the "L" would have to point to the rear to work properly.

Drilling or welding the frame's probably not the best idea as both'll weaken it. I'd look for an appropriately sized U bolt and a small bracket with holes in either end. Put one hole on one end of the U bolt and the other for your spring.

That post mount is on a section that's added to the frame with a bit of airspace between it and the rail, you could weld there and the engine mount downtube would never feel it. Matt's U bolt idea is superior to my hose clamp, I was just looking for quick down-n-dirty work around.

If the clamp is stainless, it should last for years.

It's a good workaround and a repair that will likely last for years. There's also a set of frame rails for $140 here Pinwall Cycles ebay store just in case...
