Its kind of a sad day. I just traded my 1999 Triumph Daytona, that I bought new for an old Shovelhead chopper. Its the first day without my Daytona and I am feeling a little surreal.
I am waiting for the chopper to arrive at my house. I traded with a biker buildoff contestant, Robert Ehardt of 303inc out of Denver, Co He makes awesome looking bikes. He is sending me a 1968 Shovelhead in an original Denvers Choppers frame with a springer front end. It was originally built by Denver Mullins in '72. I have some pics of it. . .take a look

That's a shame, cuz I bet you won't find another board like this one for your Harley to support, advise and tweak your new (to you) bike.
Good luck!

Very classic! I'm not a fan of staggered duals, I know you like black-wrapped pipes, any plans? Man that puppy is got some rake! A Denver frame, those have got to be getting scarce. Have fun & post some more detailed pix.

Thanks SS. Unforetunately theres not a lot of aftermarket exhaust options for Shovelheads. Its either drags, staggered or fishtail. They are the pipes that came on it. I am customizing the seat with a leather wrap. I am having a guy thats making a custom exhaust for my America do one on the chopper. You should see my exhaust on the America, dual exit on the left side-mid high. They are going to be really sweet.

Had a '74 Shovel that was an absolute dog. Never knew if I would get back home on every ride, and something always needed working on if I did......That is one long looking ride. Enjoy Warren

Yeah, some Shovels were dogs. This motor is a prostreet motor, it was dyno'd at around 90h.p. Adjustable pushrods, super B carb, etc. Its not going to be an everyday bike, so super reliablilty is not really an issue. Its with any old bike, you gotta work on 'em or the'll work on you!

I am in the middle of customizing my America, right now. The latest picture that you see of my America was taken in Sept of 04. Its apart right now( seem's the norm over the winter months. Getting a blue metalflake paintjob(old school) with some Von Dutch type stripes. In the middle of making a custom exhaust- left side exit both pipes, mid high. Want to stretch the backbone 6 inches and the downtubes out 2 inches. Should be fun. I don't think I took a step backwards, Its an original Denvers Choppers built in the early seventies before he passed away. Its a true chopper, not those Billet barges you see everywhere on trailers. Kick only, no battery just a magneto. No front brake either. A real Deathtrap. I can pick up another Daytona, anytime. I really don't need anybody to build me a chopper. I can mostly do everything I want to on my own. If I can't do, I like to learn it. Thanks for the offer, though. Fryguy P.S. Faye, I knew you were kidding

you bet I was only kidding. The copper looks unusual, which is what this game is all about. I've been ridding since the early 60th's and I think every one should have everything at least once!!! good luck. Just add alittle padding to that seat HAHA!! bill

Nice bike!! It is sad to get rid of an old bike but you sure didn't go wrong on that. The tank on that is the exact same tank I have my fathers ashes in hanging in my garage. Everyone has seen the pics of my 73 bonny chop and I'm an old school style lover. Funny. I just a few hours ago got off the phone with Sami from the Little Chopper Shop about buying one of their new Triumph choppers. I just came into a few $$$ and was going to buy the one on the internet site and they sold it last week. Arrggh!!! I might have them build me one. I can't bring myself to tear my BA apart to chop it. Good luck with that HD!!

Thanks guys, its a very unique bike indeed. Totally hardcore, old skool chop. No front brake, rear drum, magneto only.
Rebos, the prism tanks are very classic, your father is spending eternity in a very nice piece!

Thanks Jeff,
Denver Mullins was one of the original founders of 'Denvers Choppers' along with Mondo. Denver died in a boating accident in '92. Original Denvers frames from the 60's and 70's are nice to find. He made alot for CB750's and XS650. You could always tell a Denvers frame with the extended Gooseneck frame, long and low.

Paul: You may be in need of an intervention. My brother Paul has a 1969 Denvers frame with a Bonneville 650 engine and a gerder front end. Soon it will take form and grace the photoforum. You are gonna be stylin', man!

Looking closely at the chopper photos, I think you've traded for an ironhead Sportster chopper instead of a shovelhead...

The photos appear to be that of an Ironhead Sportster rather than a Shovelhead...

Hmmmm, pushrod tubes straight down instead of meeting at the bottom.... Unit gearbox, YUP yer right. Thats a piglet. Looks like it might be an XLCH since there is no cutout for an electric starter in the sprocket cover.

Well that has to be the best thing you could have done! I traded my BA for my current Harley now, and never regretted it! (well yes I do regret getting rid of the BA, but I neede the Harley and I couldnt have both) Oh by the way, that sure is an Old Ironhead Sportster engine. 900 cc kickstart only was alot of em, I had a 68 xlch, it was one of the best bikes I ever had! (LOL)!!! Nah they take some fiddling, but I imagine ur keeping this bike for show and the BA for ridin. Thats just fine for a 900 Ironhead
Ride on!
