Don't forget the conversion rate ... for our thieving scumbag corrupt politicians to give us the equivalent, we'd get £0.10 each .... spend it well mate.

Well, since they are giving us some back. It means they take too much to begin with. Dont give me 600 back. Please take less each week. Ugh.

Actually, if i have this correct.

Me and the wife should get $1800 back. $600 each plus $300 for each child.

So my household should get $1800. Which means i should get about about $5, maybe...if i beg really hard

I'll only be getting $300 since I don't pay taxes in due to my business deductions. Same with Wendy but she will get the additional $300 per child.

Be glad to send the whole darn gov't and maybe we can then have one like our founding fathers intended and at the same time stop pandering to every clown that comes to this country and instead of blending in expecting us to change to their lifestyle.

If the government followed the 'Truth in lending' law, they should call it the '2008 tax refund advance'. I'll probably put it in savings til next year when they want it back, or I get laid off and have to use it.....

later, Tom.

But, what do I know?

I just wanted you all to stop playing this silly hand ball game and do like we do in England and play real football....is it to much to ask for didnt mean to get any one upset.

Sorry, little highjack there.

I dont know about everyone else, but for me and the wife and a lot of people i know, we are going to use this money to help pay some bills. Not quite sure how that is going to benefit the economy.

OH! I see you must have already found that particular clause in this legislation that said ALL ex-Limeys now living within the confines of these United States will be taxed to the appropiate rates of their former residences, huh Mark?!

BUT, if you would have read further into this legislation you would have found an addendum to it stating clearly that those same said ex-Limeys would NOT be under this provision IF they would accept the rightfully imagined idea that American style football IS a far superior sport than watchin' a bunch of guys runnin' around kicking some darn small round ball for 90 minutes at a time and often garnering only a one to nothing score!

(dude...THAT'S why you always have to read the "small print"!!!)

first: I didnt know this passed? I thought it was still in limbo.

second: Im with Lewis Black on this issue...are they going to spend billions on postage and a letter to let us know its coming then spend a few more billion on additional postage and paper to print it on. Id say they should keep it and use it twoards something like education or a national medical program but they wont so they should just do an online sign up and direct deposit program.

third: If I had it right now it would go twoards either hard bags or an assortment of goodies such as Scottoiler, chrome goodies and a cruise control.

Since I wont get it till later in the year it will most likely be my chrome front end fund. bling bling baby!

Yeah, two chances of that ever happening, and Slim just fell off his horse.

I'm doing the D&D swap out, and have an extra head getting work done now to swap out at the same time. Hopeful for no surprises.

Now that I've already done the BB, it's time to put some miles on. Traveling money that will still be spent ON the bike. BTW, the only way the money will stimulate the economy is for everyone to spend it!

That's good, Bob! But whaddaya do if that money has already been spent to put food on your table via your credit card like so many americans have already done, and not to put yourself into any less of a financial bind then you're already in?

(what THEN, dude???)

Okay...sorry. I'll play this game like everybody else....

I'm gonna get my BA's valves adjusted at SoBay Triumph. That'll burn up a good chuck of that 600 samolians alright!

By all means get rid of any credit card debt that's charging extreme interest rates. You can't spend it on anything better than getting out of high interest debt. I'd say you're still spending it - and better off for it.

Don't get me wrong here. I'm looking forward to gettin' this money too. But, I just read or saw somewhere recently that the average american is in hock over 5000 bucks to their credit card companies already, and if this money is given for the purpose of spending it, how's it going to be anything but a very short-term fix to our country's credit problems.

(sorry if this has taken on a thoughtful bent, but I've tried to keep this UN-political and strictly on a monetary bent, and I THINK I've succeeded here....though I may not exactly be the "life of the party" around here at present!)

If they spend it to get out of debt. The money that was being spent on interest, could now be spent on durable goods increasing the GNP. At least that's what I hope happens - anything to stop the decline in earnings that's screwing up the stock market.

Yeah, that's probably as good a way to look at this as there is.

I sure hope it works. I guess sometimes a little kick in the behind of those dudes yellin' at the top of their lungs inside that building in NYC is a good thing, huh?!

(and now back to all those dreams of chrome-laden accessories here folks....sorry for the dose of reality....CONTINUE ON!!!)

The last time I commented on this misdirected effort to stimulate the economy, the thread got locked, so I'll temper my comments and simply suggest that if I lived in the UK and got a check in any appreciable amount from my British government, I would likely spend it toward replacing my Lucas fridge, so I could enjoy a COLD beer for once.

another way to look at this::::10% of people make enough not to qualify for a rebate,,90% do not.. is this not 9 to 1???? 90% of the voters[in a presidential year] will look at the party who can put the biggest spin on this about who did what for whom, so 10% think they're jerks,,,who cares????------can anybody honestly explain to me,,in 25 words or less,,why i am obligated to help support[buy drugs] for some jerk in detroit, who does'nt like to get up before 10:00?????
