Well guys, as some of you know I've been running REAL hot with that oil cooler. So I brought my stock cooler up to Pat's last weekend and we switched it back to stock (well the oil cooler is stock anyway). After some tinkering with the washers, it's running fine, no leaks, and averaging about 40 degrees cooler. I ran a solid 225 deg all the way up doing 80mph. On the way home, I did more like 85/90 and might have hit 190 tops. I think that performance oil cooler is a good idea, but I think the "turbulator" in the tubes needs to turbulate more, maybe some sort of spiral design so the oil stays in there longer. That and longer hoses (with something other than A-N fittings) would allow the tubes to sit farther away from the header pipes. Needless to say, I have it laying around if anyone has access to hoses or something and wants to give it a try, you're more than welcome. I also know a couple guys wantes my stock cooler for chroming or to replace a leaky one, but sorry guys, I need it now!

I've got one sitting in a drawer in the garage. I could never get the A/N fittings to seal up - it seemed like the lines were a smidgen too short no matter how I routed them. Could've just been me - I get a bad case of the stoopids some times - but I spent an entire day on it and never got it right. I eventually scored a stock cooler off of e-bay and got it chromed. Turned out rather well.

When I bought my bike, the oil coolers were on it. I have not had a single problem with leaks or overheating, and I sold my stock cooler on ebay. I love the way it looks clean and not overcrowded in front

had one, didnt like the look of it. may go back to one after big bore for a while to see how hot it gets with that. maybe the guy I bought it from fixed the lines, they dont seem to be too close to my exhaust like some guys say, and like I said, never a leak. I bought the bike with 3000 miles, over 10,000 on it now.

At one time I was thinking of getting those but it looked like the brake res would get in the way. Keep in mind that on the newer BAs its in a different location than the older ones. The other thought I had was that the Chrome would get hotter and not cool so good on hotter days so the black one would be better. You know...that whole black disipates heat better thing. Any thoughts on this theory?

I have these on my bike. You can't beat the looks. I did have a pretty hard time getting rid of leaks. But finally was able to get them taken care of and have been leak free since then. As far as temps go, compared to what others are seeing with the stock coolers, these do tend to run hotter. Nowhere near temps that would be concerning. But hotter nonetheless. -brent

Another way to brighten the stock cooler a bit is gloss radiator paint. Eastwood is a source for that. I went that route and had the fittings plated.

This is the first tim I've seen these style of coolers and I love the way they look, may have to look at getting a set next winter. But from what I've seen from the pictures, the individuals that claim to have no issues seem to have their coolers angled off to the side a bit rather then having them directly in front of the vertical supports. Which makes sence, this allows air to more effectively pass through the coolers reather then passing through and meeting a wall on the back side causing resistance (a piece of cardboard on the back side of the cooler is just as effective on the front side in your car in the winter).

Hi Guys, Whilst chrome may look great its also an excellent insulator, this is why radiators are painted black..it dissipates heat more readily or conversely this is why the inside of a vacuum flask is silver....food for thought, cheers, Tadpole
