Just like a few other people have, i used the stock rear signal bars, and tapped them to fit new signals. I am no expert but it was pretty easy.
For the front i had a custom bar made by the engineer at work, a simple bracket secured to the headlight and the stainless steel bar welded on.
had a few problems with the electrics, but thanks to Matt (sandman) for the great help. And having found a direct replacement for the flasher relay. its all up and running

I agree, looks like the best relocation of turn signals for the front I have seen, top work! hope you don't mind me steeling your ideas!

Oh crap, i posted this late last night.. and its clear that i dont understand how to put photos on.. the rest are in the gallery. thanks for putting the link in.
its definitley neater than the big orange lamps.
and the ony tricky part was re wiring the bulb in the console, but a little persverance was all that was needed.

I am making up one of these brakets for my bike out of stainless steel, and probably chrome, tapped ends to fit indicators. Thanks for the idea Martin! Are any Australian (or others if you want to pay extra postage) keen on buying one for their bikes if I make extras? I don't want much, just enough to cover my expences for material/chrome/time and postage. Probably work out about $20Aust plus postage. Just my way of helping out other forum users because I'm making one anyway so may as well do a few others at same time!

A couple of things spring to mind. In the UK there are laws governing the distance between lights so in the event of an accident the insurance will refuse to pay out if the bike doesn't comply. They need to be told if you do the mod. Also any DOT check will discover it and you'll get a 21 day fix it & inspection notice. I was going to say any cop would also pull you up but most of them don't know the law anyway... Secondly, as they are so close together wouldn't it confuse the already myopic drivers as they would have difficulty seeing which side was flashing. They look nice, but I would be inclined to put them on the end of a longer bar. 
If you do it today you MIGHT regret it. If you CAN'T do it tomorrow you WILL regret it.

The bars I'm making are 150mm wide, and i'm using decent side orange lense indicators the same as I have on the back so hopefully it will look almost original but neater. I think the non-original looking small (& good looking) led indicators are what get the police attention rather than the distance between them so hopefully I'll be ok.
No insurance company would be stupid enough to insure my bike after all the other mods anyway!

Some of my posts seem to be disappearing.... I had a look at my lads Ducati and his turn signals are about the same distance apart as boichat's so they must be OK. The more I look at these custom sets, the more I like them and the less I like the stock. I'm tempted....

When I was looking at having some brackets made for me, I was told that stainless steel can't be chromed, it can be polished however. Just something you might want to look into, I could have also been told the wrong information. I went with mild steel anyways cause it has a cleaner cut when using a hi-def plasma, then I can paint it or chrome dip it as I see fit.

This is something that should be looked into for anyone modding a bike or car, I looked it up for Alberta, Canada and it only states that they be placed as far apart as "practicaly" posible. I think the aguement will be in the deffinition of "practicaly"....I was looking up these laws cause I want to modify my lights also.

Very good point, I didn't think of that! Stainless is not magnetic so I think you may be right! I will check anyway but I may well end up with polished stainless

The UK law is that front indicators must be 340mm clear of each other, and rear lights 240 clear..
i found this out just after i made the bar, so on mine the tip/tip length is 340mm.. which i suppose sits just inside the legal requirement.
i personally kept the rear light wider as i prefer those behind me who i cant see to know which way i am indicating.
as for those infront, yes the lights are closer together, but i can at least see them coming towards me.
a few extra centimetres wont make a difference if someone decides to drive into you

Hi, thanks for the information. Bizarrely, the MOT handbook site http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual/mc_contents.htm didn't have any of that on it. The only info on there was about the number of flashes! Cheers Steve

you are right, I wonder where they got that information from.
i think only the most pedantic MOT inspector will have an issue with this placement. So fingers crossed.
And as for the police.. they will probably be more concerned about the small numberplate

I've got to go to the MOT testers, as I've just fitted bar end indicators, and as they are visible both front and back, I want to check if I can get rid of the rear ones completely.
Any thoughts ?

It's quite funny reading this about indicators and MOT's. My 3HW hasn't got any at all and they can not fail it.
My mate's CG125 didn't have any (on) when it went for MOT and it passed. However that's 15 years old.
I suspect if the bike is 'new' (less than 5 years old) it was definately built with them, and so they should be on and working. (OK since going of and reading the site the MOT site says bike registered since 1st Aug 1986)
Both sites saying they have to flash 60-120 times a minute...that's between one and two flashes a second. I'm sure mine don't flash that fast. And I mean the original ones on the 03 don't flash that fast.
Steve - I suspect the fact that yours show both front and back will not mean that you can get rid of the back ones. But speaking ot the bloke who will do you MOT and see what he thinks would be a good thing to do.

That's why I want to check with the tester.
It's one of those things that seem wide open to interpretation.
My thoughts have always been if they're fitted they must work, but if not................????????

I thought that if a bike was first registered after a certain date, it had to have (working) indicators - my reason for this is that I was talking to a bloke in a custom shop that does MOT's and he keeps a set of clip-ons purely so that all bikes presented meet the requirement!!
