I had one throw a hula-hoop at me this morning on the way to work. Of course I nailed the brakes to hard and ended up dropping my bike. The bike is basically ok just scratched up the mirror and bar end on the right side and bent the brake peddle. My right leg and back do hurt I guess from trying to keep the bike from hitting the ground.

Os I guess now you knot only have to watch for dogs trying to run you down, but also little sh*** at the bus stop.

If they trhew is on purpos, I would find the parents, if it was a accident, then well not much you can do.

Remember the good old days when you could beat a kid...

Man that sucks. I guess in reallity there isnt much you can do. Prescious little angels arn't they.

Should have called the cops. At the evry least it would have (maybe) stopped that kid (and the others at the bus stop) from doing it again.

I hope your pains are just stiffness and go away quick.

Glad that you made it through the drop without TOO much damage. Kids don't have the sense of 'consequence of action' developed yet, and those of us who do, are the victims sometimes. I can just imagine how funny it would have seemed to the little bustard if he would have lassoed you with the hula hoop.

I'd be pi$$ed, too, but remember the crazy crap we used to do as kids? I had my own a$$ tromped a couple or more times for pulling some of the same stuff. Luckily, I can't remember ever actually hurting anyone, but I DO remember throwing handfulls of small superballs from the back of my buddy's motorbike in the Sepulveda underpass that passes beneath the LAX runways and watching the cars behind us swerve to avoid them as they bounced all over the place. I deserved the beating I never got for that stunt.

Years ago, I was riding my Trumpet chopper through my town, tough looking bike, leathers, the whole biker schtick. As I was turning a corner, a ten year old kid on a 20" bike, standing in the street and making cars swerve by him, flipped me off as I was going by. "Screw this", I thought to myself. I swerved to the curb, slammed on the brakes, and jumped off the bike to confront the little b*****d. He jumped off his bike and took off like a jackrabbit between the houses and into the alley. I chased him about two blocks and then stopped, wheezing and pooped. I wasn't going to do anything to him, I just thought he might have some sense scared into him. I got back to my bike and slowly cruised the neighborhood a couple of times, revving my shorties. I always laugh at myself in this story today, but I wonder if that kid ever thought twice about taunting cars and bikers in traffic after that.

So true.. I can remember all sorts of crazy crap we used to pull as kids. Like the time we broke into the local elementary school and grabbed a tray of eggs. Went up on the roof and egged cars as they went by. Until one stopped, and this 6'10" 450 pound bearded dude jumped out, chased us down, beat the crap out of us and trashed our bicycles.

Funny thing was that after he left and we were walking our bikes home (couldn't ride them as he had bent the wheels), he pulled up again and apologized. Guess he realized that he could be in big time doo-doo if we reported him.

Now that's a funny story, in a painful kind of way! I also got to thinking, afterwards, what would have happened if that kid had run into his house and told his shotgun weilding dad that a biker was cruising the neighborhood, out to "kill" him.

And just for good measure, here's my own dumb**s kid story. At about the same age, my neighborhood buddies and I found a big box of roofing nails sitting in an alley. We lugged them out to the street, and layed out rows of roofing nails across the road. We were "landmining" the street, and we couldn't wait for our first victim to come by and blow out his tires, just like in the movies. Reality was, a couple of cars came by, kept going, and we got bored with it, then started to think about our parents, picked the nails up and went home without anybody catching us. Stupid kids!

That sucks. I do have a kid on my way home that like to shoot rubber bands at me, but a rubber band is not a hula-hoop. Sometimes he makes like he is going to dash into the road to see if I will swerve.

Sorry to hear your misfortune with the kids. I hope your stiffness passes quick. I hope they didn't throw it on purpose. If they did I hope you spot them in the future and get their names. The parents should know what's going on.

Hit him. I'm sorry to sound mean or inconsiderate for what I'm going to say here. Kids don't get the consequences that they deserve. They push and push to find where their boundaries are. I'm not saying seriously hit him, but he's putting your life at risk along with his own. Next time you drive by, and he does it stop and go back to him. Explain to him that if he causes you to wreck, consequences will occur. Tears are better than life or death situations. I'm sure mommy and daddy won't be happy, but at least the kid is still alive. He needs to understand how serious a situation is.

For the hola-hoop insident. The parents would be getting a repair bill if it was on purpose.

Just my opinion. See I grew up on a farm, and I knew right from wrong. I'm not saying I've done some stupid crap to others I have, but I got what was coming to me. I'm not perfect by any means, but you didn't see me as a kid in walmart screaming for a toy and not get my A$$ beat.

The kids in my neighbor hood stop and watch me roll by doing the arm rolling telling me to rev it. I guess the spiked helmet intimidates them a bit.

Lived in town years back with sidewalks and 4 way stops.
My boys 6 & 8 at the time used to go to Sams house which was maybe six houses down but across one street. We had little hoodlums maybe 13 /14 living on the corner being raised by Grandma. Other kids in the heighborhood had had issues with these two. Well one day the boys head to Sammys house and about 15 minutes later my older boy comes running in the house crying. His little brother not with him.. Seems the little hoodlum turds had harrassed them at the corner. They let the younger one cross and then started picking on the older one. He bolted home.. I told my wife to call the police and I headed out the door.

I cam to corner and the LHs were sittin on the curb my, young son across the street. They didn't get up in time and I had them where they couldn't skate into the their house... I told my youngster to come across the street and go home. I then sat down on the curb next to the two S***s and proceeded to let them know in a very calm matter of fact kinda way that I was not happy with them. I offered them a two on one rumble which they declined rather insistently. I then proceeded to let them know in no uncertain terms that I was more then willing to go to jail and that I was more then willing to send them to ******. They were scared stiff... I made it very clear that not only were my guys off limits but the other kids as well. About then the cop car pulled up. Asked the three of us if there was a problem. We all agreed that there was not and off he went. The cop circled the block a few times. I went home and we never had another issue with them...

Regarding the kid in traffic... If I couldn't catch him I would have stomped his bike pretty good...

I have serious issues with a**holes and will confront them..
My daughter is dating one right now and I'm waiting for him to raise his hand to her.... Must be the jarhead in me...

We were evil kids also, once, we ran a rather heavy gauge fishing line from 'Old man Roebucks prized bean patch late one night, across the road about radiator high, and tied off to a pine tree on the other side. We all hid down in the ditch, and would'nt ya know it, the first car to come across our line was a Cobb county cruiser....Just "stripped" every one of ol man Roebucks beans across the road...We all hauled a$$ up through the woods, with cop cars everywhere...I think there may have been a helicopter involved too...ahhhh to be young again...

These little HELLIONS need to be dealt with !
I was driving my dump truck in front of our Home Depot and this brat in a pack of 3 lobs a rock at my windshield , missed , but the PRINCIPLE ! Great . I lock 'er down in the road and jump out and chased that little sucker all across the parking lot , fearing for his life , he actually dove under a car and hid . I looked around and decided the best respose would be to leave . He may re-evaluate his destructive impulses next time .

I can't remember how many times both my parents have told me "Get up and quit your cryin, if you want something to cry about I'll beat your A$$ again." Didn't matter where we were at. Only time that was different was church on Sunday morning. Right there I'd get a thump in the back of the head from my dad's huge farm hands. If that didn't fix it it was outside in a hurry. 5 min later we came back in me with tears rollin not sayin a peep.

This is todays society, they do not get a belt at home or school anymore so they think they can away with murder. I say bring back what we had in the 70s, where the copper could clip you round the ear the teacher could throw the blackboard rubber at you and the head could cane you..

That sucks big time. At least you didn't get severely hurt. Man go by this the American way, find where the kid lives and sue the parents for the cost of repairs, they are the ones responsible for their children actions.

When I was a kind and dare to do something like that I would get a beating like there was no tomorrow.

One more story and then I'm gonna stop posting on this, I promise. I really hate bullies. When my daughter was 9 or 10 years old, she rode the bus to school. She was a good, bashful litte girl with learning disabilities. A young punk (boy) was picking on her for about a week, when I finally got tired of hearing my child crying as she came home. The next day, as the bus was letting some of the kids off, I pulled up on my chopper, leathers, mirror glasses and attitude, and boarded the bus before the driver could close the door. I asked the kids, "which one of you is Larry"? All of the kids on the bus pointed to one of the boys towards the front. He slunk way down in his seat and his eyes got kinda big. I leaned over him, and said, "when I was your age, if a boy was picking on a little girl my daughters size, we would have called you a ****** and took you out back and beat you up. And I said a few other things. I apologized to the bus driver for holding him up, ( he just kinda smiled, nervously) and took my daughter home. That young punk never bothered my daughter again, but a few years later he was kicked out of school and wound up in a Juvy prison. I know this is kinda off topic, but it is kinda biker/consequences/parent/bus stop related.

Just think, some of those wee monsters will go into politics when they grow up. Maybe I'll move to Montana and join up with the survivalists.
