I got a Harbor Freight ATV/bike lift for Christmas after reading the reviews on the Craftsman version. it's a heavy son of a gun, but makes oiling the chain a whole lot easier. Haven't down much else with it ...yet.

I do get nervous when I lift my bike and bringing her back down. Wish the lift had tiedowns.

I have the Harbor Freight version too. They make 2 and I have the heavier one. I like it so far but I want to get one of the full table type lifts eventually. Homier has one for $199 and Harbor Freight has one for about $270.

For $89. or so, you can't go wrong with the basic Craftsman lift. They make a nicer one for more money that is lighter. If all you're going to do is keep it in your garage or shop, the cheap one works great. I will never be without one again.

You'll find the Craftsman gets good reviews from its owners and if it's a good buy you should put it on your list.

I have a Jet brand lift (from Amazon) that looks remarkably similar and it sure is handy for a variety of projects including chain adjustments (I add in some extra slack to take the lack of weight on the swingarm into account) and cleaning spokes and rims. A cycle jack is a great tool.

The one I bought from Harbor Freight was about $50.

It's $59.99

I have the sears lift and, while I've only used it a couple of times, have no complaints. The Sears website contains reviews of people complaining about blowing the seals, but I suspect they were using the jack to hold the weight of the machine for long periods, rather than putting it on the support bracket and taking pressure off the jack.

Get one. Sears has the steel version on sale at times for 69.99. Dosen't matter which one you get. If you have room for one you'll like it. If you wrench you'll be using it for a bit more than lubing the chain.

I've had the Sears red lift for a few years now. It works quite well. I had problems getting it under the OL's XL1200L piglet, but she traded that off for a Roadking, so no more problems. I even used it to work on a riding lawnmower.

The Harbor Freight lift looks just like the Sears lift.

...and both look just like the Jet which makes me suspect that all are likely an OEM from the same source, just different paint.

I bought mine at a farm-n-Fleet or Big R, can't remember. They all look the same and are about $50.00. I used mine to lift our built in double oven into the cabinet opening.

My buddies from harbor freight dropped on him over night. Somehow the lock that locks it up popped and the jack bled off. I've got the craftsman and forgotten to lock it come back a week later to notice it, but not a messed up bike. BTW his bike is a DRZ400S and only weighs 400lbs screwed up his frame and gas tank.

Thats my experience.

I have left my Harbor Freight jack up for several days and it hadn't moved until I let it down.Had my old Jacobson up on it with the wheel weights on it too, definately heavier than my bike but not sure by how much.

If your lift would require being picked up to be moved into & out of storage, an aluminum lift might be something to consider.

Another option

Me too! Mature men need hydraulics when the ovens are close to 350 lbs.

The aluminum one from Harbor Freight sometimes is on sale for $99. It is lighter that the steel ones, but I wouldn't trust any of them to hold the bike for long with only the hydraulics. Use the locking device. Oh, bty the lock on this one is not (I wish it was) height adjustable. You pump the lift almost as high as it will go, insert the included steel rod through the lift frame and them slowly release the valve to allow the lift frame to settle on the jack frame. I like it and others. Any lift is better than no lift. www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=94715]

The steel one I got from Harbor Freight has 3 or 4 heights, it ratchets like the lock on a car lift.
