I am a new Kawaskai Versys owner, I remember reading about it in Cycle World's first write up of it, thought it was very cool, after a lot of thought and a lot of different bike comparisons, I went with the V, for those who are curious, paid $6400+ 3% sales tax. $6600 OTD is a bargain for this bike. Now just deciding on whether to spring for the Saddlebags. I am adding this to the stable, the Speedy isn't going anywhere
Triumph Scrambler Diablo Red & Silver (2014), Arrow Exhaust, FI remapped with TTP #4, 16 tooth sprocket, Triumph Gel Solo seat & Rack, Progressive 440 1" lowered Shocks, SAI & O2 Removal, Airbox Restrictor Plate removed.

I'll just add for the group that I bought the same bike on Friday. I've just been slow on posting it here. I paid the same price for mine, but higher tax. I did get the Givi side cases as well for a pretty good price, but they're on backorder for now. I've only done 25 miles on it yesterday, the weather isn't cooperating here. Although it looks like its suppose to warm up so I may be riding it to work by the end of the week. Here's a picture of mine:

I think those are pretty cool do-everything sort'a bikes too. And I like what Kawasaki is doing with this bike and a few of their sportbikes this year also, and that's that underneath GP-like or even Buell-like exhaust system. The underseat system that have been so popular these last few years is definitely on it's way out, and I'd venture to say the exhaust like what's on your Versys here will soon be all the rage, and for good reason: Less overall weight and centralization of that weight down low.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Oh I dunno, I think I like the Tiger better or a Sprint and they come with hardbags.... Of course they do cost more though. And they are Triumphs. Happy Trails

I was actually seriously considering a demo '07 Tiger ABS model that my dealer had for sale for $8700 (plus $325 doc fee...). Tiger's don't come with hard cases standard, but Triumph is doing a $1000 free accessories promotion now, so I could have gotten them for no-cost. Even though that demo cost is an excellent price, it was still a little more than I was looking to spend at this time.
I actually test rode the Tiger and the Versys on the same day, in that order. Even though the Versys has one less cylinder and half the displacement, I didn't find it lacking. Obviously you can see which one I chose.
I had my eye on the Versys even before my accident and wanted it for a 2nd bike, but that was going to be a year or more away. But once I learned my Speedy was being totaled, I knew I wasn't going to buy another cruiser. If it was up to me, my Speedy would be sitting happily in my garage next to it.
When it comes time to buy a 2nd bike, which will mainly be for my wife, I'm planning on another Speedmaster/America.
And if Triumph comes out with the rumored Tiger Cub, based on the 675 engine, I'll be first in line for a demo.

If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you? I'm 6'-3" and the Tiger fit me like a glove.
Women and cats will do as they please. Men and dogs should just get used to that fact and relax

5'11" - both were about the same for me when standing over the bike when stopped. The Versys does have a slightly higher seat height, 33.1" vs. 32.8 on the Tiger. But I think Tiger may have slightly lower foot pegs giving you more leg-room. Although I've seen lowering pegs for the Versys so that can be overcome.

Well, that's timely...

Their first review is what turned me onto the Versys in the first place...
Those guys have cost me a lot of money so far. I've bought a helmet that they reviewed and the Tourmaster heated vest they reviewed as well...

congrats.....they are said to have a great engine....the ninja 650 has been selling well here not so much on the V. I'm not sure why. I had a dl650 and they where/are in demand. Lot's of dealers can't keep them stocked.
I'd like to ride one......maybe in the spring I'll demo one.
good luck with it.
