I had ordered a tsukayu fairing last summer but they have had problems and there's not even a tentative delivery date yet so I'm looking at alternatives. I note that the fairing mounts for harley batwings seem fairly straightforward and I wonder if they would fit up to something like the memphis shades mounts. Is anybody familiar enough with these to offer an opinion?

I am using a Radio Caddy Fairing from the Trike shop on My Pin. Bought it through Jireh ($395). It has a Din radio mount and 4" speaker mounts. Very lightweight. I worked with my dealer to fab my own brackets. I'd post pics but the fairing is still at the paint shop (going on three months)... grrrrrrrr

The "Pin" is your victory Kingpin - right? What do the brackets look like? Any opinion about the america fitting?

Bill,
I used the Vic stock windshield mounts (upper leg clamps) and the made an adapter between the them and the fairing body. The fairing has a stud on each side of the upper portion and we drilled through the inner lower tabs (area on either side of the headlight opening). Hard to visualize but we have an upper fairing mount point (studs) and a lower fairing mount point (lower inner fairing tabs drilled through) on each side. Works well... I rode with it unpainted for about 100 miles and it worked as well as the stock shield. The adapter brackets are with the fairing being painted or I would post pics.
To make the adapter legs we used some real thin aluminum and cut and bent and cut and bent until we had the right angles etc.. Two person job... Maybe a couple of hours playing around. We then transposed the pattern to some heavy gauge steel and laser cut it out, cleaned the edges and did the bends. Once it's all mounted up you only see the top portion of the adapter. I think if you have stock or Memphis Shades mounting brackets you could easily do much the same on a Triumph...
I've seen a couple of triumphs with bat wings on the web and I think they look good... Several companies making batwings now... The Radio Caddy has a squarish section from the front the others are more flowing.. It was the least expensive of all of them I could find as well.. Rifle has a new bar mount psuedo bat wing fairing that is different. I wouldn't mind seeing one of those up close... Not all batwings handle a radio. The Corbin setup is for Ipod/MP3 no room for an actual receiver.
My goal was to keep wind protection and add tunes...
I promised my painter I would harass him on the first of each month.. Last I talked to him he had everything primered...
If you want to see a different mounting of the RC on a vic, theres a couple of guy at thevmc that have them mounted. One approach was a bit different but the end result is that it works.. Search there on Radio Caddy and you'll find a bunch of hits and pics...

I don't think the fork widths will quite match, but the HD mount is actually a bit nicer than the Memphis one. Instead of loosening up the allen screws to remove the windshield, you just pull back on a couple of spring clips to lift it off. You never have the problem of the mounts falling off if you forget to tighten up all 4 screws.

Bill: Any reason you just don't install Memphis Shades screen? The price is right and they fit without any modifications (unless you have driving lamps...) I love my Fats shield and wish I'd have installed it over the Roadster screen a few years ago. Quote:

I have a fats, that's mine in the photo. The fairing would be a luxury.

Gotcha. I'd love some tunes, but the Kuryakyn Speaker thing is just too crazy expensive.

Bill, Dragonfly is up in my neck of the woods. I saw them at the Int MC Show and they have a set up for use with Memphis mounts. Why dont you contact them and see what they say. When I get my front end back on my bike (a couple weeks or so) I would be willing to take it over to them for a test fit and a pic.

Steve: Thanks for the suggestion, no response so far to my email to dragonfly.
I did hear from Tsukayu though and they don't believe their fairing changes will be ready before June.

From my experience with several windshields, and experimenting with lowers, I have found out that the majority of buffeting is caused by airflow from under the headlight coming up over the gas tank. I would assume that this might still be the case with a batwing fairing. I have had two of them on bikes many years ago and they worked fine, but those bikes did not have the "under the headlight/over the gas tank" airflow buffeting problem. All that I am saying is, is that it might be very important to consider blocking the airflow beneath the headlight as well, or you may still find a lot of airflow behind that batwing fairing anyway. my earlier posting
