Well I just have to say it, I HATE YOU AMERICANS!!! <joke> how the heck do you all keep your bikes so clean? Every ****** picture on here from the states shows immaculately clean bikes, like new... even after cleaning my bike it NEVER looks like that... and if I ride it over a mile it looks like I have been scrambling on it. I am SO jealous... anyone have a spare room for me to come over. Keep them clean, I do enjoy looking at them.. TrOjAn

The KEY is to put a pair of "nude" panty hose over the camera lense...it softens the look and hides the road grime from the many miles of riding we do on our "many, thousands of miles" of pristene roads....do this and "wallah" the bike looks showroom new for the camera's eye !

The short answer would be "smoke & mirrors". The longer answer would include "soap & water", the qualifier would be you apparantly live in the UK where I hear from our ba.com brothers & sisters it rains/fogs/snows/sleets most every day.

You people ride your bikes?!?! I just bought a glass case to put mine in. Every once in a while I open the glass case and do some mods to the bike, then I close the case again. Huh, riding bikes, what a novel idea...

Around here, we just park outside once or twice a week and the wind blows every spot of grime off the bike.

My bike hasn't been clean in 6 years. Heck, I haven't even washed my bike since early July, just before I left for the Kootenay Raid. I've got bugs and dirt on there from 5 states and Canada.
Of course, I haven't posted any pictures, either...

The 06 is normally filthy. IMO anyway. I can spend all day polishing and go 5 minutes to the shop and back and it's like I've not bothered. I don't bother over winter, just a rinse down after work to get the salt off and thats it. I get the pi$$ taken out of me at the Triumph Owner's meeting, as it's always the 'cleanest' one there - even though I see all the dirt.
And Trojan, yours makes mine look like I've been off road roading on it whenever I see pics of yours...

Not only do british drivers chuck everything out of the window- they also use the window to lob out their ciggy ends . - usually when there is a bike behind them.!! Time to move to the land of sun , good weather and clean bikes.

I wash mine weekley, every month I use dawn dish washing soap to strip any wax from it, clar bar the bike if needed, and then do a 3 step cleaner, polish then wax. I get stuck in the rain on a regular basis, and there is a good bit of grit on the roads here so I have to pretty much stya on top of it.
Dont like what you see??? Big red X in the top right of your screen will fix it!

You should know by now that we just airbrush all of our picks. All of our bikes are grungy, fat looking and pockmarked with rust, but we just airbrush everything and they stay "showroom fresh"...

Actually my sources say that it will be coming out this fall as the new Thunderbird and will be a standard/cruiser. More cruiser than the Bonnie and more standard than our bikes.

Another bike to look out for this fall is the Tiger Cub. It will be a real enduro bike (think KLR 650) with the 675 motor in it.

Interesting...... "If" this is for real then it looks better than i was expecting. Except im not sure about the color. Looks very slow to me. Gotta love this comment though. Quote:
Do you think this is a good move for Triumph? Or do you think the British firm has sold out to the US market?
Trust MCN to come out with a dumbarse question like that. Sell out to the US.... morons? If Triumph were to 'sell out' it would be a V-Twin.

Yeah!!!
Triumph doesn't sell many bikes over here, do they Mark?
But of course as you know, thinly veiled underneath that particular comment in that magazine lies it's true meaning...and that is the idea among many Triumph so-called "afficianados"(in fact, those boys over here known as "Brit Iron Rebels" are a very good example of the following point)...that the idea of ANY Triumph "Cruiser" is strictly a "crass american idea"!!!
(yep!!...don't cha just LOVE these kinds o' close-minded BOZOS who think that way...british OR american?)

Maybe so, but. If i remember correctly. The final years of the Meridan 750 Bonneville came in two models. One with low handle bars and a fat tank and another with high bars and a 'peanut' shaped gas tank mostly for the US market. The US market bike sold very well in the UK so im not sure where they get the 'cruisers are for the yanks' idea.

Motorcycle News is a joke publication thats edited by the biggest twat that ever struck a keyboard. If youve not got an ****** in the air chin on the tank type of bike then as far as hes concerned youre not a proper rider. He even said on his comments regarding the new 1700 "Speed Twin" that Triumph should have the engine in a Bonneville Thruxton....sheesh, a heavyweight engine in a single steelspine frame and hes expecting it to be a "proper" ****** in the air bike.An engineer i think not,a bike journalist he most certainly shouldnt be....i await the day i come across him and his Gixxer when i am riding my ST 1050,waxcotton jacket and open facer. This guy thinks hes the reincarnation of Bazza Sheene when in fact hes a poser wannabe with his gelled up hair.Proper riders dont have spiked gelled hair.hahahaha.Rant over.

Well said mstrbob2003. MCN is a crotch rockets Sunday Sport.
Sold out... my a$$! I know plenty of people who love Harleys... not for the name, but for the looks. They do look cool and that is why they sell well over here, as do most cruisers (i think). I even go to the odd Harley meet-up to look at the bikes and get lots of comments about how my BA looks. Being a biker and feeling part of the community is what matters at the end of the day, not what you ride.

I've been waiting for the day for someone on here to speak out against MCN... Yeah I'm the one who posted on their site about how my America is perfect for me, mainly cos it is. All it seems to do is drag Triumph down. Yeah they raved about the Street Triple, mainly as that's now the market the rag is aimed at these days, not the every day biker. I used to buy it every week a couple of years ago, but that stopped. I stand in the shop, flick through it, and if there's something I wanna read in it I buy it. If there isn't I put it back. They seem to take great delight in the spy shots; criticising what is an unfinished bike. I have a mate who loves her TT600, they hated it. I have a mate who worryingly loves his Hardley...I'm not gonna say anymore to that. But he loves the bike, not the aura that goes round them. I have mates who ride Cruisers of all varieties, and they all feel MCN never has anything good to say about Cruisers. However I did buy it last week...there was a stunning Thruxton write up in it - a bloke had had a new tank made, new this, new that, spent over £10000 on it.... Hey that's a thought, maybe it we all spent that much then they'd like Americas and Speedies too!!! And now I'm going back to my first coffee of he day.....

Brilliant!thanks Lowey and Gina, i thought i was the only one who believed MCN slaughtered every triumph they come across.last summer one of their testers described riding the America as the worst bike he'd ever ridden.if my memory serves me right it was in a head to head test with a Harley Sportster which made the statement all the more ludricrous. i just bought highbars for my ST 1050 today so my a$$ wasnt so high in the air as i am getting sick of crotchrocket jockeys acknowledging me but when on America i become invisible to them. £150 poorer but hopefully it will be worth it to stop the R1/Blade brigade from wanting to be my pal.lol. so its you Gina who flicks through all the mags and puts them back on the shelf with half the pages wrecked....you must have scottish blood in you, you miser you!!!hahahaha.
