not a bad idea i usualy ship stuff to the hotel i will be staying in. Little tip i picked up from peter egan.. cant camp out anymore, jess wont have it. Now on my up comming Alaska trip i will be camping, but we ( Jess's dad on his Gold Wing and me on my Ultra glide) will be pulling trailers, so we will have room for everything, and then some.

Yea, sure, Ditchy, ya start out with plenty of room, then ya add a couple of more things, which need a couple of things to make them work, and pretty soon WHAM! You're in a motor home with stuff strapped on the side! Every time I start a long road trip I tell myself, "just the essentials", and then my boy scout training takes over my practicallity. "Of course we don't need that little two man pup tent, BUT, what if you break down in between towns late at nite, THEN, you're gonna need that roll up puffy matt to sleep on cause you're not so tuff any more, and what if.... We'll see how far I can parr it down on the trip to Florida this May, but I'm already looking at the front fork area and thinking about building a rack for some small stuff. It's embarressing how much I can strap onto a middle sized trumpet! You'll recognize me going down the road this spring, or then again, maybe you won't be able to see me at all!

LOL,, we have made up a list of whats being taken, everyhting down to the spare light bulbs.. My trailer will carry the camping gear. We spent about a month looking befor we got 2 2 man tents that fold up smaller then a t-shirt. A lit of hikers use them. We are taking 3 changes of clothes each, and some cold weather gear. 10 cans of sterno, backpackers grill, cooler, army pots and pans that stack and fold into each other. A full first aid kits with o2 and some other stuff, pretty much unless you loose a limb i will be able to pacth you up, even taking a small AED.
Now in his, we will have spare tires, tubes, oil and fuel, lamps, misc parts like spark plugs, tools, and assorted wires and fuses etc etc.. There will be extra room in his trailer for stuff we buy along the way.. To keep spedning down, we will both carry a prepaid credit card. We will have 2 phones, and some toehr stuff..
Mind now this is only the trailers, we still have the hard bags and trunks on both bikes.. Of course i am removing the CD changed in mine sicne my new radio has a ipod link lol..

Wow, that IS a lot of stuff. I like it cause like I said, I like to be prepared. I just could never get used to the idea of pulling a trailer. I gotta admire a guy who will ride to Alaska. I can't seem to take the cool weather anymore, warm clothes or not!

No "to Alaska" but from Key West to Alaska and back to Jacksonville FL. It is my 35th b-day gift to my self.. All the stuff listed is just the big items I remember. its going to be a long ride, but i am looking foward to it.. The trailers are made by a company called in-line. Its a single wheel trailer that tows following the line of the tires on the bike, its ;leans with you, it wont crab a rutt like a 2 wheels trailer will.. I have driven a Road King from here to Jacksonville towing one and its like it was never there.
I have even seen a trailer that opens up into a small camper, almost like a pop up, has a queen size bed and all. I am still pondering that one, but I am not towning, will be a job for the Gold Wing lol..

Oh for those heady 60's days when disposable underwear appeared ! made of material similar to a 'Jaycloth'(spelling?).

For those with a cast iron constitution, I suppose one could contemplate (monkey-butt notwithstanding) edible underwear and save more space on carrying food !

If you do it today you MIGHT regret it. If you CAN'T do it tomorrow you WILL regret it.

Quite an innovative idea that Alan. Just thinking of how they'd be able to organise that but if they can, good on 'em! Mind you, packing all the gear and setting the tent up has become half the fun in my experience!
