I know I have not said much on here but I do check this great site offen. Just to let you guys and gals know I bought a new bike a 2006 Harley Davidson Road King its a police model with only 500 miles on it for a great price. Last week it was warm here in Ct I had a chance to ride both bikes and I still love my Speedmaster but I need more of a utility bike even with the saddle bags on the bike I still never had enough room and the wife wants to ride with me once in while and the Speedy just dont cut it so I will put it up for Sale soon I will miss it but I dont have the room or the time for both bikes sad but true. I looked at a lot of bikes and rode most of them the Road King in my opinion was the best for what I needed I wish Triumph had something but they dont I will still check in and see whats up from time to time so be safe and enjoy Steve

A loss to the "dark side", but at least you're still riding. We'll keep a place here warm for ya. Good luck!

Steve,
Sorry to hear about the head injury.
I'd still be happy to ride with you.

Sorry to see you go. Hard to believe the new 2008 RIII touring model didn't suit your needs. Oh well, hope we'll see on the road anyway.

Kenny im gona have to go with Mark on this one, the way people talk about there Triumphs is just as bad as the harley guys talk about harleys. Who cares what you ride as long as you do, right?

Congrats on the new addition to your stable.

I'd take a Road King any day. Most of the Triumph "riders" around here are worse than 95% of the Harley guys I've ever been around.

Road King is much more motorcycle, and probably better 2up...you're handling won't change as much, and yuo'll still have plenty of power. Good luck with the new ride.

Now if you could manage to keep the Speedy & make it a solo bike...

An innocent comment. Taken in context I don't see a problem...

I read it as 'tongue in cheek', as we say in the UK - a bit of banter...

Mark,
First of all, most of us have Harley friends that we ride with all the time. Second, most of the jabbing about which bikes we own is done with no real serious intent. I'd probably own a Harley if my brother Rick hadn't turned me on to Triumph's. By the way, Rick owns 2 Harley's, a Yamaha and a BMW. So lets lighten up a bit and realize most of the Harley bashing that goes on around here is done in jest. I'll ride with anyone on any kind of bike.

Did you try a dump truck? They handle slightly better. I had to make the joke, have fun with your new bike as was said above I have many HD riding friends and it's obligatory to make the jokes. Just don't turn into one of the "but it's not a Harley" idiots.

What about the rocket touring model?

Dare I even mention that I bought a 98 Harley Superglide recently? The question is:
I have added a Harley but I'm keeping my 02 America so am I on the light or dark side?

One of my friends rides an Ultra Classic Electra Glide.
I would give him a hard time, but he beats me to it,
says things like "Yep, bought me a lifestyle"; "I like the marketing image"; "Let's go riding, you can wait for me at the end of the twisty part" etc. etc.

He's no fun at all. .

"Utility bike" . That's pretty good. I'll use it but it won't get a rise out of him. He'll probably start using it

I just like bikes...

Although I believe there may be a fortune to be made with little tiny Calvin's and every "other" brand of bike, if we can get them out as tank magnets...

I would do them for PC vs MAC, but for fear that someone would really try it and electrocute themselves.

I'd have to say that you're maybe a light gray! (Jeez, a simple light hearted comment made in good natured jest and now all of this?! Did Mark read the second part?)(If I promise to grow up, do I have to lose my sense of humor also?)

He hasn't been the same since yesterday when he heard the Polish National News Service announce the closure of the Tyskie Brewery for 3 months because of the worldwide hop shortage!

My missus has a Roadking. Nice enough, but not really my sort of bike. I liken the bikes in my garage to cars I've had over the years. The America is like a TR3B, enough power, good handling and a joy to ride.
The Night Train is like a Jensen Interceptor, almost too much power and torque. More amenities than needed. It handles well enough, but with that much torque and weight, you have to be careful to stay ahead of the bike or you can get into trouble. The Roadking is like a mid 70's Plymouth Suburban. Quite able at what it was designed for, but a bit large and heavy for everyday use.

I like all motorcycles. Every one. If I had the money, I would have a bunch of them. Different ones for different days, different trips. Someone to maintain them, polish them, read Haynes manuals to them at night before they go to sleep. If I didn't like one, I would put it in "timeout" in the corner until it started to behave.

Not being in a cage is the idea. Whatever gets you out of the cage and makes you happy is a good thing.

It is all in fun, at least for me. I knock HD but don't really mean it I also knock Jap stuff but in that case I really don't like them. Not to say I care if someone rides one just not for me. I do like several HDs of various years just way over priced to me. I even had a Pan back in the day. I bought it thinking it would be cheaper than a car since I couldn't afford the ins. on a car at the time. It ended up costing me much more in the long run to keep the junk bucket running. Not to say Panheads are bad I had someone elses worn out nightmare. My best friend rode a couple Pans and never had a problem. I personally would love a mid 30s Knuckle but would still trade that for a late 30s Speedtwin in a heartbeat.

+1 for Mark and Matt. I'm no stranger to talking $hit, if I could get paid for it I think I could make a pretty decent living at it. $hit talking is only fun though when it's in jest and the party in which $hit is being talked about is present. A prime example is when I made a joke about Matt's mom a couple of months ago and I PM'd him to make sure he saw it. If the other party is not privy to the $hit talking then it's just cruel and mean spirited. I don't think this forum was designed to be a place where people could come together and discuss a shared hatred, condeming all those who have a different point of view then our selves. If you'd like to join a club like that I hear the Nazi's and the KKK are accepting applications.

Let my dying thought be that every mile was fun and let my tombstone read,"They never made one fast enough for me."
