So my bud and I go to a local bar where I had bartended for 2+ years and got myself through college. I sit down and I'm considered a regular. Alot of the servers come up to me and talk and shoot the breeze. One girl has a boyfriend with a harley of some sort came up to talk. She noticed I rode since I had my helmet in the seat next to me and she just went harley stupid. Supposedly this 07 Harley something-or-other can pop a wheelie with her on the back, and cruise at 150+mph. My first comment back was BULL $H!T if he wants to prove something I'll race him in the 1/4mile. I had a few and was pretty big and bulletproof. She kept backing her claims up no matter what I said. At this point my buddy couldn't resist and piped up. He's got an 07 Honda ST1300. "My ST can't even do 150 that easy lady. Obviously your smoking on the wrong dudes pole if he's got to talk big on his HD." I almost fell out of my chair.

All I have to ask is what is up with all these HD riders trying to prove something that they don't have? All she had to say to brag about that HD is that its louder than my TBA. We would have all 3 agreed and I wouldn't be writing this post. I guess it did make for a somewhat memorable night.

It just amazes me how stupid people can be when it comes to stuff like this. I guess they think it makes them superior or popular. All it does is make them look like an idiot.

Maybe she meant 150 KPH? That translates to around 90 MPH and most newer Harleys will do that if you try hard enough. With a light weight solo rider laying on the tank a VRod might make 130, on a good day, with a tailwind, downhill....
As for the wheelie with her on the back, adding a passenger shifts the CG rearward making it easier to lift the front. With a passenger, even my old 55 HP R90/S had a hard time keeping the front wheel on the ground.

I guess I'm a little on the conservative side. I like to ride fast and all, especially on nice twisty roads, or on a long straight away. Still, I can't see popping a wheelie with someone on the back of my bike. I don't mind doing stupid sh!t every now and then, but it seems kind of screwed up to bring someone else into it with you. I always drive more conservatively with with my wife on the back of my bike than I would by myself.

Me too on both counts.
Especially since I had a near fatal accident with a girl on the back a long, long time ago.
She came out of it much worse than I did.

I would never try to do anything as stupid as trying to pop a wheelie on a 900lbs + harley with my girlfriend on the back. Sounds a bit uncaring to me.

God made stupid people like this to make examples for the smarter ones. I'm not wishing anything bad on the guy for I don't know him, but he has whats coming to him if he keeps this up.

I suspect that having a passenger who is a bit of a 'chunker' may be beneficial when attempting to raise the front off the ground. Heck, if the pillion is enough of a 'chunker' you may not even need to pop the clutch - just ease 'er on back till ya get beyond the tipping point...

Well, obviously she's retarded.

My buddy Jeff built a stripped-down, mildly hopped up Harley just for running on the Salt Flats last year and I believe he only, ONLY went 146mph.

Hey now, fellas! You know, there IS an outside chance that this girl just might know what she's talkin' about. Maybe her boyfriend has a Harley VR1000 and THAT'S the bike she's talkin' about!

Yep! And though it'd be mighty uncomfortable for her riding pillion on one of those babies, that bike COULD do these two things, alright!(but COULDN'T win any races when they campaigned 'em in the U.S. Superbike Championships a few years ago, however)

Of course there's a much better chance that she's one of those many people out there who think the "H-D Lifestyle Propaganda" is "the truth" too.

And seein' as how those VR1000s are "kind'a rare", I'm guessin' it's the latter "chance" here, folks.

(yep unfortunately...the percentages are against her here)

This paints such a flattering picture. I wonder if I know anyone who resembles this image.

Well I guess the good thing about all of this is she doesn't come up to me and bother while I'm at the bar. She was ugly anyways. Kinda had a bull dog face with no curves just one thin stick with a face. (I really wouldn't even call it that)

I don't know who's more delusional the Hardly neard and their ridiculous claims or SUV guy who thinks that he can go up a cliff face (like on the commercials)......Well after a moment of reflextion the Hardley neard's delusions know ne bounds. Hardley neard wins.

I've never owned a Harley Davidson, but I once owned the T-shirt, hat pin, biker chain-drive wallet, telephone (it was a gift). With so many V-twins on the road, what difference does it make anyway? However, if I were to ever get a V-Twin, I think I'd prefer it to be a HD old school.

Its more fun to be ridin'! I'm still ridin

Harley stock is in a major downturn. I caught it last night on of all places PBS business watch. Down to 33 from 45 this year. Estimating a 1/4 drop in new bike sales this year.

and cruise at 150+mph.

Maybe she has a point, sort of. Last time I rode my Night Train, I hit the rev limit at 72 MPH in second gear. I just calculated it out and that translates to 165 in 6'th. Of course, I seriously doubt it will reach redline in top gear, probably not top maybe 115 - 120 unless going down a very steep hill with a strong tailwind, but I guess it could in theory.
