I went to the Northeast Motorcycle Expo Sunday and saw the new tank. I have to say it was a disappointment. The new tank badge is nice looking but not inter-changeable. The tank shape looks too much like all the other cruisers on the market. Sure the extra fuel capacity is cool but the shape doesn't seem to go with the bike. I'm glad I have the classic looking tank with the knee indentations. However, I do like alot of other things on the 08 like the pillion pad, pipes and wheels. Some of those were changed in 07 but the whole package isn't bad. If I got an 08 i'd change out the tank.

If you were going to do that, best to act before the fuel injection bike comes out. It won't be as easy to swap tanks then. I suspect that the current extra capacity will go away when they stuff a fuelpump in there, good thing the injection system is very efficient so they will still go farther on a tank.

I just looked on the Triumph website and see the difference. I don't have an opinion one way or the other at this point except that the new badge is very nice. Too bad it can't be retrofitted on our 'legacy' models.

If your put kneepads on it, the new tank would look a lot like the Sunbeam S7 or S8.
