Ok, I was at the show in Novi Michigan this past weekend (January 4-6th) and Triumph was not represented. Every other manufacturer was there including URAL and Royal Enfield. But not Triumph. What gives? I felt very alone. Only a few of us running around in our Triumph gear.

It's more than just a show to sell bikes though. Since 95% of the people there are bikers. Its a cool way to meet other bikers and see all the manufacturers and what they are up to. I understand their reasons, but many people dont even know about Triumph. Heck, I had narrowed it down to Harley and Star before going to the Triumph dealership. I work for Ford and we as engineers are supposed to attend the auto show to look at the competition and how they are doing things.

Ooh! You're missin' the beauty of this thing, Chris!
The lack of presences there the last few years has given Triumph an "aura of mystique"!!!!
(YEAH! that's it!)
You see, when someone looking to buy a motorcycle happens to stumble upon a Triumph dealership(though with thoses being so few and far between, this is sometimes a rare occurance), they naturally get all goose-pimply inside and this sudden feeling of serendipity comes all over them!
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

That is exactly what happend to me! I stumbled upon the one and only triumph dealership within 200 miles. Which is why I bought the bike. Cause they were mysterious!

Ya SEE?! That's the secret plan Mr.Bloor follows!
They know once someone discovers what a great lookin' and well engineered piece these babies are and then buys one, that this new Triumph owners becomes their de facto sales agent. And when the masses of people who will walk up to this new Triumph owner ask something of them such as..."When did they start making Triumphs again?", that new Triumph owner will be their unofficial representative.
(this ALSO saves Triumph a heck of a lot of moola TOO, ya know)

Triumph will at least have some representation at the North Atlanta Trade Center during the Great American Motorcycle Show

BTW Chris...Welcome to the site! And, noticing your new site-name, allow me to immodestly direct you to this one thread. You might find it somewhat entertaining..... http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...ge=1#Post283088(it's kind of a Weird Al Yankovic meets Roger Daltrey sort o' thing)

"They sell every bike they make" Yep they do. They sell them to dealers. just like Harley, Honda, etc. Many Triumphs languish on the showroom floors for a year or so too, just like other brands.
Going to the show is showing off. Its what successful bike builders do. It promotes the brand and helps the dealers in that region. Dealer support or the lack of could be why we have so few dealers.
I would suggest that a person there looking for a mid sized cruiser walks away from a 750 Shadow and looks at a Speedmaster, end of story. The Speedmaster just got sold in many cases. 675 vs. the CBR600 RR, no contest on looks or performance.
They need to get out.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Actually, I absolutely agree with you, Ron. My "aura of Mystique" thing was offered in my usually smart-a$$ed and sarcastic manner.
Yep! I still to this day find it amazing that people "stumble upon Triumphs".
In fact, just a few months back I parked the BA in front of a store and before I was able to walk inside it, this dude walks up to me and literaly gushes over the bike and of course askes that ubiquitious question we all hear..."When did they start.....", and as I start to answer his question and then segued into how nice Triumphs are, the dude says to be something like, "Save your breath, dude", rolls up his sleeve and shows me a friggin' TRIUMPH TATTOO on his arm!!!
GEEZ! Here was a guy who evidently really loves Triumph Motorcycles and HE didn't know "they were making them again"!!!
(there be somethin' wrong with THIS PICTURE, huh?!)

I run my own business and used to attend/exhibit one of the major annual international shows related to my work. For the smallest exhibition space (about 3 m x 3 m) and basic booth was over $10,000 for 3 days!!!I used to walk by the large exhibition setups by the major companies and saw nothing but $$$ signs rolling in my head! They would spend, in those three days, what I would gross in a year!!
Yes, it would be great to see Triumph represent more, but I also can understand that these trade shows are not cheap!! And if they did more of these shows, you know they would pass those costs on in the price of the bikes and accessories.

Triumph has a booth at both the Edmonton & Calgary, Alberta motocycle shows. http://www.sportshows.ca/cms/index.htmlThe Calgary show actually had an entire Event/Feature on the evolution of the Triumph Vertical Twin. http://www.sportsmensshows.com/CaCycle/events.htm#vintageI am going to the show in Edmonton this weekend but my father attended the Calgary show. He said there seemed to be more buzz around the Triumphs than any other brand represented. Ceuls

I think these shows are a waste of time and money.
