Hi All New to the site. Lots of great info. I got a Triumph tank cover and wondering if there are any surprises in installing it. (I have a knack for undoing screws and bolts and having something like a spring, fly out, never to be found again) Any tips or input would be wonderful. Thanks Loads

Welcome aboard. Never fitted one myself but have the same propensity as yourself to break things ! (I broke the locator off my Triumph taco when fitting it !) Luckily I noticed it was missing when I couldn't set the dial straight. I found it on the garage floor and glued it back on.
Anyway, tank covers - have you had a look in any of the other forums ?
If you do it today you MIGHT regret it. If you CAN'T do it tomorrow you WILL regret it.

Gerry, welcome to the site. Remove the 3 allen head screws holding the dash on the tank. I believe you must unplug the wiring connectors from the dash, position the tank cover and reverse the connector thing. No surprises that I remember.

Thanks Brummie. I've tried the Triumph Rat Forum as well and just waiting for info. Do you know of other Triumph Forums?

Welcome Gerry,
If you got the Tank Bib from Triumph, it really is just the three screws from the cowl. I got one and installit after talking to theses great people on this forum.
If you need any more info , Just Ask.

I can't remember but doesn't the tank bib also attach at the other end under the seat?
If it does Gerry, just remove the bolt behind the pillion, lift off the pillion by pulling back and up. Then remove the bolt behind the seat. After that lift off the seat the same way as the pillion, that will expose the tank bolt, remove that. Lay the tank cover on and then reverse the process.
The top part of the tank cover is just as the others have said. You could do top and bottom separately if you are concern with getting yourself confused but once you've done it you'll be surprised how easy it all is.

Easy job Gerry, don't sweat it. Have had mine off a number of times, Take the chrome tank cover off, (three screws) fit the front under the cover, tie the back of the cover to the single bolt that holds the seat on, very simple. P.S., Welcome to the site!
