When replacing the mufflers I believe you folks are using some type of exhaust sealent? What kind and what brand please? Thanks.  Al

Any RTV rated at 650ºF or above will do. Use a very thin circle arou8nd the header pipe. The slip the mufflers on. Let sit up at least 8 hours before starting, that's the hardest part.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

You know, changing the pipes is a pretty quick process and I quit using rtv after about the 6th or 7th time. There may eventually be some carbon blow-by at the joint, but it's no big deal.

Is this a 3-M squeeze tube type stuff, like gasket maker, sealer, like at the local auto parts store?  Al

Yup. Just go to the glue/grease/goop section of any old auto parts place and looks for Hi Temp RTV sealant.
