Hi All, can anyone help.
i have a problem with a fuse that keeps on blowing,10 amp fuse that works the indicators, brake light and horn. it started with the left hand front indicator not working and back one flashing fast, bulb ok not blown, had a fiddle with wires and checked for visible cracks in wires from front indicator to connection on handle bars and were wires enter and inside head light. no visible sign of a problem. now the brake light will work fine but has soon as you use the indicators the fuse will blow every time.
Can anyone help with what could be the problem.
bike is a 04 Americ
Many Thanks for any help
Herb

You've got one of the indicator wires grounded to earth someplace. (Either something's come disconnected, or a wire's been worn through/pierced.) If only the left indicators blow the fuse and not the right one (or vice versa) it's between the switch and the light. If either side indicator will blow it it's either between the fusebox & flasher or the flasher & switch.

If you still can't find it. Disconnect all possible parts and test system. Keep plugging back parts until the fuse blows again. That should isolate where the short-to-ground is.

Take a look at the hole in the back of the headlight bucket. The protective rubber grommet likes to jump the track, exposing a sharp edge. If I recall correctly, every (or almost every) wire circuit on the bike passes through that hole, usually twice.

If for some reason you might unplug the wire harness connections inside the bucket, put a little white out or sharpie mark on both sides of one harness junction, so you know how to replug them. I believe the '04s had two harness junctions of the exact color & type. Mebbe not.
