For 2008, other than some tank and paint treatments, what are the major differences between the two models?
Happy holidays to you! Thanks in advance for your help.

Sit on each and notice the reach to the bars. That's the real difference. All else is a matter of style preference.

The seating position is a major difference. Most people will love one and hate the other once they sit on them both, so make sure you get the one that is most comfortable to you.

BRAKES!
Oh, yeah - the seat and bars on the Speedmaster make you want to go fast more even though the go fast stuff is the same. But you might use it more on the Speedy.....
Paint, Wheels, Pipes....
Does the Speedy still come stock with the rev counter? Does the America not still come without one? (Anybody know?)

The tach is an option for the America, but a very easy add on. As stated numerous times, styling and rider features (seats and bars) are the key differences. Sit on both, if you ride 2-up, both of you should sit on both. Appearance and rider comfort will clearly make one appeal to you more than the other. You can't go wrong with either decision.
