Does anyone have one of these or familiar with them? I want the old school 3/4 metal flake look but with DOT standards (for what it's worth). I am aware of the Biltwell's but want something a little more substantial. Here is their ebay store link.

I like the FR008 model, silver metal flake with black stripe and star.

Do NOT purchase a JP Helmet. Here's a link that I used on Ebay to resell the darn thing:

JP Helmet Saga

Please read through it and make the call. I'm guessing the 3/4 shell variant, meets the same "standards" (go through my link carefully), as the 1/2 shell does.

At least I was completely honest in my re-sale.

If you're looking for a helmet that is very retro looking, affordable, and much sturdier, check out this link:

HCI 50

Regards,

Tom

From Biltwell

Of course, this is the reason why the Biltwell helmet is designed for display and novelty purposes only, and should never be worn to operate an actual motorcycle. Simply put, Biltwell helmets do not meet any DOT or other safety standards.

Since you are looking for a novelty helmet buy that one you like. As above the helmet looked good. Even if they are not DOT or whatever an extra layer of plastic and foam will help in a low speed mishap. Its better than nothing.

I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Ditto what Tom said. The HJC 50 is the way to go if you are looking for 'retro' and inexpensive. Had one since they were first introduced. No problems what so ever.

If any one out there is looking for retro the Nolan N-30 looks like an option. In fact I am thinking about getting one.

Thanks all the same, I'll stick with my Bell R/T; just detach the visor and mosey on:
