If the Triumph chrome parts are trash, who makes quality chrome aftermarket parts for the TBA and speedmaster? thanks, Jason
-This Triumph that I am going to buy when I get home from deployment will cost me a fortune. My downfall is that I like the look of chrome. Oh well, chrome that baby to the gills.

The valve cover is rough in by the spark plug but looks good on the bike, I have seen sprocket covers that look good just couldn't find one I was happy with, must have been a bad batch.newspeedmaster.com, bellacourse.com,SRS (forget the URL),Fast Eddy (also forget the URL),Bonnevilleperformance.com. For the most part take your time there are some parts at those sites that can be had cheaper if you look around. For example the luggage rack for the solo seat at newspeedmaster.com is a Sportster rack. Plus there are quite a few parts for other bikes both Jap and HD that work on our bikes or work with a little minor adjustment. Seem to be quite a few Honda parts.
HD exhaust and exhaust made for HD by after market people will fit with 1 3/4" inlet. and so on.

If you can find a reputable chromer near to you, you can: A: remove your parts and have them chromed. B: look for cheap stock parts on Ebay and elsewhere (here, even - post in the classifieds) and get them chromed. It can get expensive, but quality chrome plating is an art like custom fabrication or painting. In my experience, getting something chromed has been less money or equal to the same chrome item by Triumph, only the quality is much better. And, I am supporting a local business - a good thing. Let your wallet be your guide....

I have started re-chroming the OEM std parts on the bike, and you can tell the difference between OEM and after market chrome

If you list your location, that makes it a lot easier to recommend a vendor in your area... A trusted, former member of this site referred me to these two platers out of central PA. I have not used them yet, but will need to get some stuff done on my '66 project at some point. I have purchased the chrome valve cover from Brent, his plater does good work and Brent is pretty selective on each piece that goes thru his place. Definitely post results if you get work done. It's good to know who is doing decent work.

It's a shame Triumph chrome doesn't have a better rep. Triumph had some of the best chrome plating of all motorcycles in the 60s and 70s. I've got chrome stuff from those periods that still look pretty good, even after years of riding and cleaning. I once sent engine side covers to the famous "Browns" in Texas. The primary case looked terrible and the other side not much better.

Seems like a candidate for vault or vendor area. Comments regarding quality, price, turnaround, and whether they're good folks might be useful. Other services such as machine shop, paint and powdercoat could be candidates too.
Said Molly to James, that's a fine motorbike.

Got it back, pleased with results. All wired up and operating. I will post just as soon as I have the bike out in daylight to get a shot. Thanks for their contact details, I will use them again for the next project, probably a rear rack.

I'm curious as well. There are a couple or so i found while googling. I saw this place listed on jalopyjournal.com. Here's the comment: *************************************** Here you go Diversified Plating Ltd Phone: 405-236-0545 2109 W Sheridan Ave Oklahoma City OK 73107-7035 He had a 53 Chevy grill that he had just got done and it was purty! Better then some of the crap I have seen come outta bigger shops.

I have had a lot of bike parts chromed. It ain't cheap! I would recommend the following: Visit the shop. Usually small operations are the best. There is chrome plating, then there is triple show chrome plating. The price will reflect that. The majority of the expense is in the prep work. The piece has to be cleaned, and depending on the condition, buffed or ground and repaired before plating. Chrome doesn't hide imperfections - it enhances them. After plating, it has to be buffed and polished to really make it shine so any odd or irregular pieces are going to be more expensive. It may help to tell them ahead of time which surfaces show and which ones don't - why pay for all that labor to buff out something no one will see? I deal with M&P Refinishing, (I really trust that trusted site member that Al mentioned above) and they are 2 brothers - and the one brother's wife handles the billing, etc. Small shop - nice people - quality work. Price example - had my 2 carb intake manifolds and my battery box done - $175.00 plus tax. They also did my oil cooler when no other chrome shop could get the powder coat off of it. I'm happy with their work. Your results may vary....

Wow, I like my Triumph chrome just fine. Sorry, I must not know what good or bad is. My valve cover is rough inside at the plugs but thats not visible. Chain guard, Foreman Grill, Sissy Bar, and Battery Cover are perfect.
3 years old and I promise not taken care of. The closest they get to polished is the 25c high pressure car wash then I walk past it once with a dirty towel.
No lifting or discoloration at all.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

It's funny that my mate has an 02 America and has had no trouble with the bike at all chrome or front discs warping..

The chrome sprocket cover issues I was having wasn't with one I had already purchased they were that way right from the factory. I never did get a good one I gave up after 14 of them. Some were really bad some just bad. 2 had nice chrome but the casting underneath was screwed up, looked like someone got over zealous with a grinding wheel then chromed over it. It was on the bottom edge just behind the last bolt, probably wouldn't have seen it but I didn't like it. The rest all had a spot that looked like a blued header on the top in the little dip under the side cover out far enough that it would be visible. Only problem so far with any chrome on my bike is the tube in front of and between the jugs.

Plater finder http://www.switchboard.com/Under business name or category, type in "chrome plater" without quotes I came up with 12 within 50 miles of my rural location (a town of 3,300) Switchboard seems to work best when "by distance" features are utilized.
