Looks like it could be good. The batman movies were, in chronlogical order... 1st one;with the joker; Really great, watched 4 times. 2nd, with penguin, almost as good 3rd, strarting to slip, with introduction of "robin, the boy? wonder", give me a break, he's a grown man, is supposed to be about 14 years old. 4th one, with arnie and a bunch of others, (batgirl?, what a hokey character, worse than robin) is a laughable mess of cartoonish characters and TOTALLY impossible action scenes. I.E, gliding to earth on a piece of fusalage, Kowabunga! This movie, with george clooneey out of his element, was a real stinker, on my all time worst movies list. The last one, a return to the roots of the Batman, was just okay. And thats my movie critique of the month. postscript: to bring back the Joker character is kind of lame and lazy, plenty of badguys left in the field.

The 60's Batman TV series was better at comedy than all of the movies have been at drama/adventure.

I've been waiting for this since shots of Heath Ledger were released showing him as the Joker. Nothing says crazy like taking a knife and carving a smile into your own face.
The early Batman films were good under director Tim Burton but when Schumakker took over for the last two they were complete crap. The only thing he knew of Batman was from the '60s tv show.
Batman Begins took a big chunk of ideas from some of the actual comics and that showed what the Batman could be, not a neon wrapped, nipple-armoured quip thrower.

Looks sorta interesting. The Joker looks like The Crow dont you think. The batmobile might be a bit over the top for intercity crime fighting. The bike is a different story, any idea what they are riding. Looks like the Tomahawk on HGH (human growth hormone) Batman was my crime-fighter growing up, along with Mighty Mouse so I'll watch it. I liked Batman Begins so mutch that I added the DVD to my library. And if this is as good or better I'll add it too.

Right on! Batman is supposed to be a dark character. Go back and read your comics, he is finally the way he was meant to be.

And this looks like a nice continuation of "Batman Begins" which was the first one to really get it right. Can't wait...

The way I see it, the earlier Batman series (Batman, B. Returns, B. Forever, B. & Robin) with Keaton/Kilmer/Clooney was just one take on the story. Tim Burton had the right feel with the first one, but Keaton sucked - Kilmer was way better but he had a lousy script - Clooney sucked HARD in a sucky storyline. I did enjoy Batgirl cause Alica S. was hot in latex. Ditto for Pfieffer in the catsuit. Oh and Jack...well when is Nicholson NOT cool? Batman Begins (it seems to me) to be the start of series with a whole different style of retelling the comic book stories. Christian Bale rocks in the role, the whole gritty hardboiled feel is right on, even compared to Burton's gothic take, and Batman's "wonderful toys" actually make sense - I'd way rather have that bada$$ armored war machine batmobile than any of the others. It also occurs to me that the whole martial arts training in Nepal or whereever, gives the new Batman a sort of "The Shadow" vibe which I like. Referring of course to the '30's pulp-and-radio show Shadow, not that horrid Alec Baldwin farce. Can't wait for the new one. One storyline I'd like to see is one based on Andrew Vachss' book "Batman: the Ultimate Evil" where the Dark Knight takes on a child sex slavery ring from Gotham to Thailand. http://vachss.com/av_novels/batman.htmlVachss is a brilliant author and did great things with Bob Kane's creation.

Agreed.
What I didn't like about all 3 movies is pick an actor and make him Batman not a different face each time, who is Bruce Wayne? Clay Face? The problem with the new movie is Jack was the joker and has a disfigured face from botched plastic surgery. You can't just undo that and do it again. About eleventy-seven thumbs down for those 2 points.

Nice that you pointed this out Eric. What most people don't know is that the original writer, Bill Finger was a big pulp ficton fan and Batman was a direct result of that. Although Finger was never credited with creating the Batman until recently, Bob Kane felt fine with stealing all of the glory, he gave the character much of his early personality. One early Batman story is a direct copy of ideas from an early Shadow story right down to both characters being trapped in a giant bell jars.

Didn't know that...all makes sense though. Never a real fan of comics, but what I always liked about Batman (and the Shadow) is that they had no superpowers, just men with time training and money enough to fight crime. Personally, if I was Bill Gates, I just might take a page from that (pulp novel) book.
