experts,
I recently discovered that there is a conversion kit made for the BA and SM that will convert it from the factory chain drive to a belt drive. Has anyone attempted this mod?
It appears that this belt modification also changes the gear ratio to 2.45:1 from the stock 2.625:1 Any and all input, thoughts, and peanut gallery comments are welcome.

I know Dinqua and a few others have done it already. Do a search and you should come up with a few posts on it.

A lot of people on here have done the belt drive conversion and there is a lot that say it is really good, I have considered it but the cost is a little out of the way for me yet. clicky the link is Brent's site "http://www.speedmaster.com".

The only drawbacks are price and difficulty of installation and replacement - you have to tear apart the entire rear-end of your bike. The only thing to note is it needs to be kept much tighter than a chain or it will eventually delaminate and fail. The benefits are quieter, smoother power application, low maintenance, cleaner wheel (although it all still gets quite dirty, just not caked on chain oil dirty) and ideally a much longer lifespan than a chain.

Would I do it again? Probably.
