I've always used Stabil and followed the directions. Boats, cars, bikes, never had a problem.

I've been dumping in stabil, filling the tank and running the carbs dry. no problem so far.
on the other hand, my lawn mower still works too and it has had none of the above.

I have never winterized my bikes, I take them out for a ride if the weather gives me a break.Been riding over 30 years and have never had a problem related to not winterizing.

Ditto to what the dog said, gas is formulated to be good for a year, stablizer is a waste for any time less than that.

Not west coast gas. That camel pee starts breaking down in a few weeks.

As part of my maintance job at the houseing athourty I take care of 8 weed edgers,3 sidewalk edgers, and other small motors haveing to do with lawn maintance. In ten years of putting these things away for 3 months of winter if Staybill was not added and run into the carb their was problems in the spring with jets being clogged up.Sometimes soaking in fresh gass would free them up sometimes a carb had to be rebiult or replaced. As for me the cost a Stabill is so low why risk the problem?

Stabil never hurts, but I like Dog's idea. Get it out on the road if you can during the winter. It will keep the other components moving. Plus it does well for that cabin fever syndrome.

Most winter gas here is 10% ethanol. Ethanol tends to attract and hold water, forming a corrosive agent that can do nasty things to some components of the fuel system. I have read that stabil may exacerbate the problem, but I don't know it for a fact. It's worth researching though.
If you can, take it out for a ride every month and top off the fuel before you park it.

No, Sta-Bil does not hurt-it's the answer. We use all kinds of power tools, wackers, snow machines, and such. Sta-Bil goes in everything and NO problems. And gasoline is only good for 30 days max. There is no stabilizer in pump gas.
