I'm not a fan of rap music. Heavy Metal is more my speed. But. Do you notice the similarity between what you're saying about rap and what they said about rock-n-roll in the beginning? (ie:That's not music, how can you listen to that crap, every song is about the same thing, etc.) My Dad told me Grandpa said the same thing about Count Basie and Duke Ellington. Rap is music, it's the way many of this generation express themselves, some rap has quite a lot to say. Yes, most rap is chauvinistic and degrading to women, but no more so than Ted Nugent "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang", Rod Stewart "Stay With Me", or Dion "The Wanderer". But it's not not my cuppa tea. I'm off to listen to some Motorhead.

Well, I listen to some rap music and I will agree that most of the rap out there is nothing but talking about how much money someone has, how many cars and women a guy has...so on and so forth. But there is some rap out there that is definitely music. I hate to just label a genre in whole because of some of the people associated with it. If that were the case, I'd hate classic rock, country, classical, alternative, punk, rap, metal, indie, emo...well, you get the drift.

I see what you're saying Brian, but as I mentioned above, at least Msrs. Nugent, Stewart and DiMucci SANG those chauvinistic lyrics on those recordings using fluctuations in their vocal range, unlike almost all of Rap recordings today with their monotonic deliveries spat out by the lead.

SANG those chauvinistic lyrics on those recordings using fluctuations in their vocal rangeHey, not only that, but they could actually play musical instruments pretty darn well. Ted Nugent, particularly when with Amboy Dukes, was just plain awesome in his ability (it was reported that some of his licks were too much for even Eric Clapton or Jeff Beck to reproduce!). It seems that in todays music world, all you need to know is how to setup an electronic keyboard to give you a beat, and a record player to scratch on. It's funny, when I was growing up, my dad would have beat the living &%*# out of me if I tried playing a record backwards.. Now it seems to be a requirement Cheers, Brad

I must confess. I quite enjoyed both of those rap numbers. Im not a big rap fan, but i can listen to just about anything. It all depends on my mood at the time. Besides, who am i to look down on anykind of music. Im a KISS fan. Admitting to that will often get you ridiculed. Oh, and if you want some rock music with some seriously foul langauge and extreemily chauvanistic lyrics, check out Buckcherry.....But turn it down and dont let the wife/girlfriend here it. Bloody good though

How about Cassandra Ford with The Vincent Black Shadow? She's got a nice voice, one that may lead her to something bigger.
