Does anybody know what part number grips fit a speedmaster.
I have part #6236 and the right grip moves in and out 1/4 inch becouse the clearence is to much at the handlebar switch that holds the grip on. Thanks in advance for your help.

That's the right part number, I have a little play but 1/4 inch sounds excessive. I think I moved my housing in a little...

undo the housing and move it in a little, but remember to leave enough space so the throttle does not lock when revving the engine..

Yep, as above. just fitted these myself, moved the housing in and then re-adjusted throttle cables to take up play in throttle.

Like the instructions say for the left grip. Make sure you have it at the angle you want it at as you slide it on. That Glue sticks like sh1t to a blanket.

Took me a while to hunt down an imperial sized allen key for fixing the throttle boss too. None of my metric keys would go near the tiny allen bolts

I picked up some Grips and Throttle Boss today. I am going to try and install them at work tonight, where I have access to some tools and an enclosed area to work. Someone suggested a local bike dealer (Hinshaw's in Auburn, WA), but they want me to leave the bike for the day and say it will cost at least 1-1.5 hours time!!

Any tips on removing the stock grips and installing the new Kuryakyn grips/throttle boss would be greatly appreciated.

Removing the stock grips is easly. Use an air gun and blow compressed air at the interface between the bar and the grip and it will glide right off.

I seperated the stock grip from the bar by using a long thin micro screwdriver (a wire coat hanger would work too). The I shot some WD40 into it. Let it sit a few minutes, grabbed the grip and started turning it...as the WD 40 made its way around the grip slid off like it was on butter then I cleaned the bar off.
I installed and noted the position of the throttle grip while I was waiting for the clutch side to soak in. I adjusted then put the clutch side on to match.

Find a new dealer, all day and 1.5 hours for grips? They don't want to do the job. Did you buy them from them? It's an easy job with some compressed air, wd40 and a little twist.....Maybe some heat from a hairdyer if they are really stubborn.....

Just did mine today. Took 15 minutes tops. Put a small flat screwdriver down the top side after taking off the switch housing, and sprayed wd-40 down the top. Waited maybe 5 seconds and they twisted loose real easy. New ISO grips slid right on. The throttle side just takes a loosening of the cables, and it slides right off as well. Go for it dude.

Actually, I just installed them tonight. Zmilin's advice on the WD-40 was spot on!! The left grip came off with no problem. I even found a date stamp on the bar, Feb 2007. Unfortunately, working a flat piece of metal, coated with WD-40, messed up the day, but the Feb 2007 was visible. So my bike is really 1 year old!! Well, at least the handle bars are!

The trickiest part of the whole job, was removing the throttle cables and then re-connecting them on the new ISO grip. It helps to have a second person to help with this part of the job.

But the new grips look great. I'm going to have to play with the Throttle Boss position, but I'm pretty pleased with setup overall.

I finally got my Kuryakyn grips over the weekend and I just finished putting them on. It took about 45 mins with the help of Z's WD40 suggestion.
Conwy - I didn't have a date mark on my bars when I took the stock grips off. I guess my bike doesn't have a birthday like yours.

I didn't think of the WD40 method and went straight for the stanley knife method

Did the same thing. Ain't going back to stock. Love the ISO grips. I have some slight carpal tunnel and the ISO grips have made a big difference.

After 6 year of wanting these things I finally installed a set this past weekend. I have to say, I'm not all that impressed. Maybe they will grow on me. Just coming to work 10 miles the thickness of the grips rubbed my gloved throttle hand and I could see where it could be a problem on a long trip. But with that Gorilla glue they include, they are definitely not coming off.
