Needing new tires on '03 Speedmaster. New to Triumph. Has anyone had really bad/good experiences with any of the available brands of tires in our tire sizes?

I like the IRC Wild Flame I have on the back of my Speedmaster. It was cheap and so far seems as good as my Metzler was. Metzlers are really good tires but kind of expensive. We talked about tires in this thread just recently and talked about IRC Wild Flame , there is a pic of them in there. click me

i have had 880's on my bike for right about 10,000 miles. they have been great. handleing is good and the wear has been amazing. if you do a lot of miles i say 880's, and for best handling i say avon venoms

I've got an '07 SP w/ the stock Metzlers on there... now I'm down for the year & called my shop regarding the 12K valve adjustment... they questioned me on the wear of my tires....
Well to me there looks to be more than enough tread (no burn outs for me) but the guy at the shop seemed to be leading me down the path that I may need new steppers on my baby.... Now I am adimttedly new to owning & maintaining a bike so I am semi ignorant in this... but approx how many miles (normal meaning no burn outs etc.) should I expect to get out of the stock Metzlers?

I put Avon Venoms on my '04 America and it felt like I got a brand new bike. Sure did improve the handling.
