Well, I finally installed a 904 kit, and wouldn't you know it, my clutch couldn't handle the increased torque. So I installed a Barnett clutch kit and it slips as bad as the original! What gives? I can't believe it's that powerful. I'm getting a little bit aggravated. I wanna quit wrenching so I can ride! Anybody else having this problem? I'm confident I have installed everythig correctly. Are there stronger springs available than the gold ones that came with the Barnett kit?

Remember Rob, - it's not just a 904 wiseco kit you're running. That head you stuck on there had major valve work done on it. Then you're running the British Customs Stage 1 "Street Cams." So, you've taken that thing to a pretty high level of torque. I'd call Barnett (before those plates get worn) to see if they can suggest even heavier spring (perhaps some die springs).
I hope you have a Superman grip to pull in that clutch lever.
Man, that thing must have some serious roll-on power!

I have only heard of this happening twice. the first time was using the Valvoline semi-synthetic oil - wouldn't handle it, swapped to a different brand, no more slippy. The second time is with Jojje, the wild Swede with the turbo Bonnie. he has machined his original basket out just enough to handle one more friction and one more pressure plate. he has some detailed destructions on his site somewhere, no link, sorry. Other then that, give Barnett a call first and see if there are beefier springs, I know that BC and BP use some other ones, something about a Honda Fireblade comes to mind...
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Check those plates! The two plates that go on the outsides are different than all the others. As I understand it, if the correct plates aren't on the outside, it doesn't work right. I have the Barnett installed, and haven't had any problems yet.
Not you fat Jesus!

I double checked the stackup before I installed it. I'm sure it's right. I'm gonna install some heavier springs and I feel sure that should settle matters. Thanks for the replies.

Sorry for the delayed response. I've been very busy trying to get everybodys car ready for the holiday travel season and getting in our last chance deer hunts. I haven't had a chance to install those springs yet, but as soon as I do I'll let y'all know how it works out. I'm pretty sure those Honda springs will do the trick. Those suckers are waaay stiffer than stock!

Ive replaced my OE for a barnnett heavy set-up that also slipped. After contacting barnett they shipped me one 100% free disc to swap out that was thicker than the others. Barnett's disc order isnt relevant(all have same part#) My set-up is ALL OR NOTHING now!!!! If I could only afford OE

Hope that the stronger springs work if not my guess is that the oil that you are using is not compatable with the clutch plates. If this is the case no amount of stronger springs will help and it will mean a complete change of clutch plates and a more compatable oil. Just my 2 cents worth and I really do hope I am wrong.
Blessings
