I've seen the new shaped tank on the latest speedmasters (No fuel injection yet in Aus) and my better half and I really like the new shape but have been told they wont fit the older style speedmaster as the fixing bolt is in a different position so no point in buying a new shape tank and trying to fit. Does anyone know if this is true?? Nigel

More to the point, anything can be done with a torch and a welder, and sometimes a big hammer! If you like it, go for it! (I personally love the old tank)

I like the big knockometer idea! If it still fits OK in front so the trees don't hit it and in the back where it meets the seat. Then to either re-drill the tank tab or weld a lug onto the frame should be no big deal. Would have to be a tank from a bike with carbs though unless you want to cut and weld on the tank too!

Hows that? Did they change the frame to make it 1" longer? If it's the back bolt that has changed that should be an "easy" fix. If it mounts at the front differently then that makes it more complicated.

If the new tank is indeed 1" longer, than how does that effect Corbin's pan? And are the oem saddles different too?

I think that salesman was full of crap. I've looked at the one we have on the floor, and the mounts look identical. I think I'm gonna try and swap one out tomorrow.

Sad though but all too often true.

Sales man is obviously looking for the biggest sale possible, ie. new bike is worth more to him than a new tank!
TBA, Stainless extractors / drag pipes, 65mm over forward controls, Thruxton needles, 904cc, head ported, lowered 1-inch, Console removed, relocated battery box, Australia.
