So, I bought my first BA in May from a great guy here on this forum. I store it under my carport and it is covered with a lightweight cover, mostly for dirt and dust. This will be my first winter with the bike. I live in Florida. I am concerned about it being outside in the cold. Will this hurt the bike at all? It doesnt get that cold here in sunny Florida but at times it will get down to at or below freezing. Should I be concerned? If so, any suggestions? I dont have a garage but I could lean on someone and probably store it there. Thanks!

There's lots of online tips, and some in the "search this site" for extended storage, fuel, drain carbs, battery, oil, condensation, etc.

If you're able to ride once in awhile, simple temp reading shouldn't be any big deal. Of course that comes from someone who enclosed an attached carport to an insulated, heated (on demand) garage. Most expensive mod I did for the bike

Others may chime in. Did people "chime in" before the internet was invented?

This will be the first winter my bike has a roof over it. I've been using a cover in the driveway, but now I built a shed in my backyard for the bike only. Before I had to knock off the snow and ice to ride, but no more!!

So never a problem with the cold? If you are kicking snow and ice off the bike and never had a problem I am guessing i'd be safe in Florida!

I thought there was a law against using the words 'Florida' and 'cold' together without including 'drink'???
Anyway, if you can manage to ride the bike at least every couple of weeks, no problem at all. If you can't ride for a month, it would be a good idea to attach a battery tender to keep the battery up. Any longer, pour some Stabil in the gas. If you have to put the bike in storage for all winter for some reason, run the engine with the gas shut off to empty out the fuel lines. Remove the drain screws in the float bowls to empty them completely. Change the oil, make sure the gas tank is full to minimize condensation and apply stabil to the gas. If possible, block the bike up to get the tires off the ground.
