I'm looking at getting the socket so that I can plug my gloves in.

Is it easy to fit?? Easy enough for this simpleton to fit??

I have the glovetosocketcable on order already.

Wiring is already there, G under the back side of the tank, no need to take tank off.. just plug it into the back and screw it to the engine steady..

Was cleaning the bike today and under the back of underside of the tank I found a small black electrical connector. Don't know why I have never seen it before. Does that sound like the aux connector you are talking about? If so it looks like a cheap and easy extra. Saw the unit on ebay this week. Went for under a tenner.

I know, but that was a Bonnie one and I've been told they are different... that and I'm not gonna pay full price anyway. I'm going for a new one, just to keep the warrenty dept happy.

I've never looked for the connection, but was hoping it was gonna be easy...if I can change brake pads I'm sure I can do this, just want reassurance.

Second Rays comment.. Connector has Blk and Purple wires. Simply bolt in the new socket and plug the existing connector in the back... It's even orientated so It can't go on the wrong way around..

Get it. Works like a champ, and is a monkey simple piece to install. I use the socket to connect my battery tender, as it's hot 24/7, and a direct connection to the battery (fused.)

Don't waste your money going with the Triumph accessory, as it's the same as sold by Powerlet.

I opted for the "heavy duty" battery tender interface cable (PL/SAE CABLE - PAC-010.) Again, works like a champ!

Yup. It's the same unit Triumph sells.

To be brutally honest it won't be any cheaper for me to go to powerlet.

I'd have to pay extra postage, customs, and then they don't give me the discount that I'm getting from the dealer.

In fact looking at the powerlet site I'm gonna be paying less than getting it from them before importing to the UK.

Quite the bummer kiddo! Oh well, I tried anyway...

Ride safe,

I went the Powerlet route and just bought a cigarette lighter adaptor that plugs into my battery tender lead. It's only for occasional use with me, so that works fine charging the cell phone as needed. I run the adaptor over to my saddle bag and keep the phone in there during charging.

Right then, I now have said socket. I think I could fit it without taking the tank off, but there's a bloody great black box thing in the way. I think it may be part of the alarm system. I don't have time now, but will have a look in the morning. I was even shocked to see the socket plug cramed full of grease.....someone did their job properly after all....

Am I right in assuming that the lead on the Powerlet PSO-007 isn't necessary, and that the PSO-001 would plug directly into the existing connector?

Where does the the socket mount?

there is a round hole under the tank towards the front of the seat...that is the factory furnished location for the
"cigar lighter" plug and where I put mine....I have yet to put "the plug" on my Sprint and as of now am just using the "lead" that attaches directly to the battery...it works but is just not as clean as the "cigar lighter" plug

Could someone tell me whether
these sockets fit directly to the spare socket everyone talks about on our bikes, or is there still another cable we need to buy?

The second one down is what I use on my aux socket on my bike, so the answer to your question is yes they will fit...

I don't want to sound like a complete Dumba*se Ray (just a lttle one) but I don't remember seeing a female socket anywhere underneath where the tank may hide it, and which would fit the one described

I have seen (I'll have to take a photo when I'm not at work) one (or is it 2) other female sockets but not the one you describe.

In saying that, when I get a chance tomorrow, I'll now have a good look for something that resembles a socket that will fit it, now that I have been told specifically which one does fit.

thanks buddy

The "hole" for the AuxSocket is in the rear engine mounting plate......look at the cam cove, on the back side a plate off the frame bolts up to the engine....just up from that bolt , maybe an inch , is a hole....I think it is 5/8" or there about in size......it is almost straight down from the front of your seat........it is a good location for the Aux in my opin.

Now I've got it. I was looking for this thread before but couldn't find it. It has pics of the female plug on the bike and the type of socket it fits into, and, where it should be mounted. Now I'm in the picture here's the link
