Triumph Scrambler Night Hawk http://www.insidebikes.com/news/archives_2000/news_details.asp?id=5537Triumph had a new variation on their Bonneville Scrambler 865 model on show at Milan. The Night Hawk version features matt black paintwork, Ohlins shocks, Arrow 2 into 1 exhaust, headlamp grille, different mudguards, seat, handlebar pad etc all designed to make it stand out from the crowd with a distinctive 'urban warrior' type of styling. There's no word on the UK price as yet, which is likely to be announced at the NEC in a few weeks time.

Man, they've been studying this site...they should owe royalties to sweatmachine, brokenfixed, glazer and skydivejeff among others...

Yeah, and they're only the most recent to do stuff like that to their bikes. Our illustrious (if absent) founder was one of the earliest, even before the Speedmaster existed...

Yeah Robert even shaved the tank and put in an offset gas filler. FJ, can you dig up a pic of it?

Yes, it is. Like FJ mentioned, I think he was one of the very first (if not the first) to do anything like that.

To one of our bikes, it's a look that goes way back in the general cycle world.

I don't have a closeup of it. I thought I did. There's just the other one in his gallery:

I could be wrong, but it looks to me like they've been into the stash of denim paint over at the HD plant.

PLEASE don't give HD credit for the flat black trend! Hot rods, rat rods, and garage builders of all sorts hve been doing it for years!

It does have some similar styling cues to Robert's bike, but with the difference in weight, steeper rake, shorter wheelbase, and more ground clearence, the handling will be different. Compared to a Speedy or BA, downright twitchy.

Well Harley IS making "nightster" models and all the sudden this comes out called the "nighthawk"..Harley surely didnt invent that look, but they have been selling some bikes that are on the other side of the spectrum from all chrome lately. And it looks like triumph is trying to jump on that too.

Very interesting that they have adopted the Thruxton "urine cup" master cylinder reservoir, makes you wonder if this model is a 7/8" bar instead of 1"...that, and it looks a lot more breakable if your trail riding goes awry.

I think it's kinda retarded...why put Ohlins & Arrow exhaust on a bike with knobbies?
I think those upgrades would be much better suited for and welcomed on the Thruxton or standard Bonnie.

Not only look cool, but actually functional too. Unless you're gonna throw some real tires onto the Scrambler, you're NEVER going to need Ohlins.

I freak'n LOVE it!
I know I'm a dork but I just don't like the front break res. on the handle bars...I like the sleaker looking ones FAR better.

Call me crazy, but I've seen plenty of Ohlins on off road bikes. I'm sure it would help to smooth out a dirt road or trail.

Any word on whether it will make it into production? I'm really starting to dig this whole blacked out look, would love to see a TBA done the same.
