Anyone installed their own floorboards? I installed mine last night and I now have a little play (toward and away from motor, not forward and back). When I did it, I took out the greased bearing?, which I belive I was supposed to do. The floorboard mount replaced the bearing as far as I can tell. There might have been that much play with my pegs and I just didn't realize it. Anyone else have any experience with this? Did I do something wrong?

That would be nice if you would. Do you remember how the shifter installed on the floorboard mount? I took a metal bushing that was greased up out from the shifter to be able to slide the shifter on the floorboard mount. I don't believe the metal greased bushing would fit on the floorboard mount. I'm not sure I will be able to tell by the picture, but it wouldn't help if you get to it.

Dealer installed when I purchased the bike.

However, I have the old hardware and there is a bushing 10mm hole, 20mm dia, 15mm high with a grove machined in the middle of the OD.

Hope this helps.

That bushing you are talking about is with your old hardware (pegs) - not on the bike with the floorboards, correct? If so, I must have done it correctly. I can just wiggle the shifter back and forth more than I expected. The bracket is solid though.

You did it the right way. I had the opposite problem when I installed Wendys boards. I had to remove the shift side again and wet sand the part the shift rides on. When I first put it together the lever was too tight and bound up. It would shift but was too snug to return. After a light 400 grit sanding and some grease it has worked fine ever since.

OK, good deal. Thanks guys - it sounds like they should work on their machining a bit. On the brake side, the new bolt got too tight and I almost stripped it out when BACKING it out even. I put the one on from the old hardware without problems. I think the new one was caked too much with locktite I assume - looked like it was dipped on the end. Anyways, the shifter isn't going anywhere - as long as it doesn't cause problems in the long run. I will have the dealer check it when I go for the 500 mile oil change.

If you mean side to side play (hadn't thought about that direction before) there is a spring washer that goes along side the lever that pushes it to the side a little.

Seems to me, a ba*tard cut file was needed to fit things smoothly, really love the boards..... other then the chrome issue....
