Hi guys! I'm afraid I'll have to pass on this one due to financial reasons and other priorities. I do hope you all will have a great rally (I know you will) and maybe next year???

Hi Ray
We are just waiting to get the site confirmed & then Thananasis will post up more info/booking confirmation etc. Once that is done we will be able to book the Tunnell I worked it out that for me the total return cost would be £66 (Passengers go free) which isn't too bad.
I need to ride in the sun soon before I start to grow webbed feet

Bengt, I am also truly sorry about that. I'll just have to come up to Uppsala again to see you then. I sincerely hope things change and that you finally do make it. Crossed fingers.

Yep, I am just waiting on the larger campsite (they told me to contact them from Monday Jan 21 onwards). I think we'll forget the smaller campsite as my contact told me the owner sounded a bit 'iffy' today regarding availability. I have already received confirmation (and provisionally booked some rooms) in the hotel.
I expect to be posting full details on both campsite and hotel circa. middle of next week.

Ok, I finally completed negotiations and have written confirmations on both the campsite and the hotel. We have managed to get a small discount on the official campsite prices (thanks to Senora Umberta) and a pretty big one at the hotel (thanks to Senora Diana).
I will be posting a sign-up thread with details within the hour.

Johann,
Haven't you heard that I have swallowed a GPS (actually a true comment from a fellow rider several years back) ???
Didn't you notice I went south to Sorrento/Naples upon hitting Italy, instead of north on our way to Sweden.
Didn't you notice we went northwards to Finland instead of south (homewards) after the rally.
It works perfectly!!!

I think your built in GPS is far superior to the other´s on the market, it takes you to places where you didn´t intend to go when planning the trip and those routes always (almost anyway.. ) turns out to be the best and most memorable of a trip.

Hi all! No fun keeping plans to yourself so here is an update on my ride down to Italy Day 1: ca 700km (435 miles) Leaving home early on the 30:th of July going down to Helsingborg and taking the ferry to Helsingør, Denmark. Continue thru Denmark to Gedser and there taking the ferry to Rostock in Germany and ending up somewhere outside Berlin for the night. Day 2: ca 700km (435 miles) Continue south in Germany and meeting up with Nick outside Nürnberg, we will set our course on Austria and the Brenner pass where we have booked rooms at the Gasthof Rose in Greis am Brenner. Day 3: ca 300km (185 miles) Continue thru the Brennerpass into Italy and with 300km to go on friday we might even have the time to take some detours to stop and enjoy the scenery in the Italian alps and at Lake Garda. We will be arriving in Iseo sometime in the afternoon to meet up with the rest at the campsite. Nilla is flying down to Italy, and with the airport being only 40km from Iseo and the Euromeet it´s easy for me to pick her up there, Me and Nilla are extending our stay in Italy after the meet for at least one week but hopefully closer to 2 weeks if things with leave from work and so on get´s cleared. The 2 week scenario includes one more country to visit....... more about that when it get´s cleared! Johann

It looks like we have similar plans for that rally. We start at 30:th of July afternoon and its possible to meet you next day someware at the A9 autobahn on the way to Nürnberg. After Rally Weekend we plan to spend a week at Toscana (Pisa, Firenze, Siena ....) so maybe some of the route could be united with your plans. Pawel

I just love maps! (Kathy says I'm dangerous when holding a map. ) Johann ... your'e going to love that ride (I know we did). It's very similar to my route up to Sweden last summer ... (after our messing around in the south of Italy first, of course). Looks like you guys are forming quite a group ... very cool!

And here is the latest update from Sweden ...... Leave from work for extended stay = OK Flights for Nilla booked = OK One more country to visit = GREECE! Me & Nilla are taking the ferry from Ancona, Italy to Greece (Corfu) after the EuroRally, spending a week there enjoying the sun and the warm waters of the Mediterranean sea! A big thank you to Bedouin for planting the idea and helping out on the way to make this happen, this is going to be a trip to remember! Johann

Well here is an update for the Guys & Gals coming from the UK: Day 1 Tunnell to Calais then on to 1st night stop in a Formule 1 in Colmar near Strassbourg(425 miles from Calais) Day 2 cross into Switzerland via Basel & then down thro' Swtizerland to Italy & Lake Iseo (372 miles) After the rally we (Jackie, megan, me, Dave, Andy & Nobby) plan to do a bit of touring back into Fance via Lake Coma & maybe the Guzzi factory and the tunnel into France up to Dijon then Le Mans and back up to Calais. I now have a SatNav & a GPS on my phone so in theory it should be easier to find places Is it Summer yet???

You should have an icon called "Maps" & go "Get directions" if not you an download Google maps for free & it will use the Blackberry GPS to navigate. Go "Directions" & follow menu for start point & then destination. If you need any help PM me

I was just looking at the map of Europe and thinking of the members attending the Euro Rally this year, when it suddenly hit me. From England we have Martyn, Jackie, Megan, Shaun, Andy and Dave coming into Lake Iseo from the north-west and then de(touring) through France on the way back. From the very north (Sweden) we have Johann coming down and then he and Nilla continue on to Greece. From the north (Germany) we have Nick coming down and then continuing on to Alicante in Spain. From the north-east (Poland) we have Pawel, Beata, Pawel and Aneta, with Pawel and Beata continuing further down to Tuscany. From the south-east (Greece) we have Kathy and yours truly (onward journey undetermined as yet). The question that arose in my mind was ... when will the Euro-Rally map ever look like THIS again (with arrows scratched across most of Europe and everyone departing in other than what would be their normal return directions)??? I think that this specific rally should be renamed to "EURO-INVASION". D-DAY on the shores of Lake Iseo - 01 August 2008. This is not accounting for the possibility of a "mystery" visitor or 2 which will only make the above map even more spectacular. Maps! I just love them ...
Bedouin.
