.....How long do you think it will take before they become available to buy?

I know that this is probably the only year model that will be a direct bolt on for the carbed bikes because starting in mid 08' they will be used on the FI equipt bikes.

I'm kind of liking them and would probably seek one out if I where to sell my green flamed oem set in favor of a custom paint job.

I would say as soon as the models have them in the showroom you'd be able to order them.

Does this mean the old style tanks will be phased out!!

I could see them getting scarce after a while. I don't imagine they will continue to produce them.

I bet you can get one now and that your dealer has the part number for it.

Your taste are old world and harken back to the early days of Triumph. For example, behold the 1938 Speed Twin's tank...

Like Soren suggest, ask a stealership? However, the question of will the new tank fit is unanswered. Maybe a new thread asking our English brothers and sisters could help answer that question? Given the issues encountered with the flush mount gas tank cap vis-a-vis current models one cannot assume that the newly resdesigned tank will mount readily to our vintage iron horses.

hey moe,

when I just opened this thread and saw those pictures I could have sworn that I heard angels singing!

LOL

I'm gonna inquire about the tank with the dealer. (possibly this weekend).

If I learn anything then I'll post it here.

I am going to assume that IF the early 08 tanks DO fit our bike then it will be short lived because I am thinking that the fuel injection bikes will have the fuel pump inside the tank and not have a conventional petcock.

hence the reason for the expanded size.

I'll see what I can find out.

Would be really cool if one of those tanks was taken and cut to install a mid tank dash like the old Speed Twin. If the cap was located where the old ST cap is you could also put a fuel gauge in that shows on the cap. Probably use a HD cap designed for a fat bob tank (might have to modify the float some or not)

I checked the Triumph dealer site today. It says the tanks are out of stock with no due date.
