This morning I had a great idea, I decided to look up some Massachuetts law and see what it said about my situation with my bike and the dealer. According to the law the shop is responsible for informing the insurance company before suplimentary work is started. So as soon as the dealership opened I called to talk to A.J. I told him that I did the research and according to Massachuettes state law 123.05 section blah blah blah. I then explained that his shops policy of not submitting suplimentary claims until completion of work was a direct violation of state law. He told me he didn't know that to which I replied "you do now" And went on to explain that I'd really like to solve the issue between the two of us but if he still couldn't see fit to give me my bike back under the agreement that I will givet him all his money as soon as possible, my next call would be to my lawyer. He asked if that would make me a satisfied coustomer and if I got my bike back would I stop bad mouthing his business, I told him I would and he told me to come pick up my bike. Now my bike is back home with me where it belongs and this whole nightmare is finally over. Thank you to everyone who helped me out through this whole situation, everyone who gave me advice, wrote letters, called, offered up words of encouragement, it made this whole situation a lot easier on me having all of you to listen to what I had to say.

Glad to hear it's over, but I still think the dealer is a bumbling incompetent.

In all sincerity - he really ought to be looking for another line of work

Before you sing the Hallelujah chorus, I'd be looking over the bike with a magnifying glass.
If these guys had to repeatedly order additional parts, the lag time between repair sessions could mean they forgot to tighten this, adjust that, etc. Check it over real well....

Better safe than sorry, and I'm sure you don't want to go back to these people....

Perserverance, good for you!!!!! Im battling with the Union here at work...I've been a lead mechanic for 12 years, and now they are letting mechanics come in as leads and bump us out of our seniority, but won't let us take our seniority back to the mechanics ranks....total BS...I would go back being a mechanic if they would let me carry 12 years seniority with me, bu apparently it's a one-way street. Fixxin' to go off!!!!!

All ends well. What a good week it has been.

Tim got his bike back, and Arsenal won 7-0 the other night.

All is well in the cosmos.

I can assure you that he knew the law, he was just hoping that you didn't. Good for you!

Congrats Tim. Glad to see that once in a while the law (or knowledge of it) comes to serve a good purpose!

Tim- how did the bike handle on your ride home from Halifax? Did you ride to/from work? Are you happy with the repairs?

It still a bit weird to me. They changed a couple of things that I'm still getting used to. I had them replace the stock fork springs with progressive fork springs for one. The other thing that got changed was my clutch lever. I'm not really sure of the reason, maybe it was just what they make now but my speedy had just a normal clutch lever and when they gave it back to me it had a four way adjustable lever that is way different then my old one, I don't know if it's all in my head but it seems like the firction zone is different. So based on those two things it's kinda like riding someone elses bike right now but I'm getting used to it I'll keep you updated when I get some more ride time (this afternoon) as it's been raining everyday since I picked it up. As far as the rest of the repairs... Every time I look at it I'm so mad that I have one blue header and one perfect chrome one, I know that it not their fault but it pi$$es me off just the same. I sat down with some blue job chrome polish the other day to try to correct the problem and after an hour and a half of rubbing I have a one inch circle of polished chrome in my blue header. I'm thinking of taking the new header off and taking my propane toarch to the inside of it to blue it up all nice and pretty again. Another option I've been thinking about is heat wrapping both. Any suggestions on that topic would be great. Other than that I have no complaints, every thing works, I'm back on the road, all is good.

The only person I know that heat wrapped his headers is "Grzegorz" here in the UK, from what I remember they have to be wrapped very tightly..

tightly and I think you are supposed to soal the wrap too to expand it slightly so after you wrap it tightly it then shrinks slightly as it dries to tighten up even more.
