I just got my most recent blood test results back. They looked for my Cholesterol count, as well as some other items. The following is my results.

Cholesterol = 195
HDL Cholesterol = 76
LDL Cholesterol = 108
Cholesterol Ratio = 2.6
Triglycerides = 54
Fasting Glucose = 90
AST (liver enzyme) = 28
ALT (liver enzyme) = 24

Now, does anyone know how to determine these results (analyze) and/or how to chart a course to make them better?

I know, I know, - this is a motorcycle website, but I happen to believe there is more common-sense wisdom here than most other places one could go.

I'm listening.

In general, you're not dying anytime soon from cholesterol realated issues. You be healthy, mon.

Cholesterol Less than 225 mg/dL (for age 40-49 yr; increases with age)
10 - 29 years 53 - 104 mg/dL
30 - 39 years 55 - 115 mg/dL
40 - 49 years 66 - 139 mg/dL
50 - 59 years 75 - 163 mg/dL
60 - 69 years 78 - 158 mg/dL
> 70 years 83 - 141 mg/dL

i believe it should be interpeted this way ....... immmediatly ride your motorcycle for at least 2 hrs (as many twisties as posible )stop at a tavern, sit in the smoking section fire up a huge stogie (cheaper the better)and order a pint(full 20oz) of anything that takes you fancy(beer wise ) and order the ribs and fries, wash down with another pint, finish stogie and ride back in the knowledge that that previous experience was great and did nothing to your health what so ever, except highlight a wonderful ride. .

Stress is the biggest killer imho. I smoke, drink and ride just so it won't get me!

I think it means you're gonna die in the next couple of days, you should sign all of your possessions over to me for safe keeping and when the results of that test take effect you'll know your things will be in good hands.

Looks like you could use a little more grease in your diet.

Cholesterol 195 - Borderline
HDL 76 - it's OK
LDL 108 - slightly elevated , but OK
C Ratio 2.6 - a little high
Trig. 54 - excellent ! ( mine is 460 )
F Gluc. 90 - very good
AST - very good
ALT - very good ( what is the range on AST and ALT ) ?
Overall , you appear to be in good shape .

At my heaviest, mine was 3.5 (5 is considered normal here).
I eat rubbish and only exercise when I have a good laugh.
A friend was p!ssed because his is through the roof and he watches everything he eats / drinks

What it means is that you need to switch back to a steady diet of Triumph. That BMW is no good for you. Just kidding.

Thanks for the advice. After going to the American Heart Association's website I've begun to understand my chart. It seems the only two categories that are excellent are HDL and Triglycerides. Everything else requires more work.

The way I figure it, if I sweat my a$$ off every night after work for a whole year I can bring some of those other numbers down.

If you take pills, you can eat/do whatever you want. After all the pills fix everything right
