I know this is short notice, but I’ve been watching the weather for the weekend and Sunday (10/21) looks like the best out of both days (sunny & mid to upper 70’s). We are going to do the 1st trek of the year up the mountain to Skyline Drive. All are welcome to join us. We are meeting up at Clinton Cycles at 9:00 and will roll out by 9:30. For those who want to meet along the way, we can hook up with you either at the rest area on 66 west just prior to Manassas or at the Sheetz gas station in Warrenton. Gene

I take it you're going to start at the top of Skyline drive and work down towards Charlottesville? If so then that will work out perfectly for me. I'm leaving NoVa on Sunday and heading south so it'd be great to meet up with you guys along the way.

Cool. We usually head out Rt 211 out of Warrenton to Skyline Drive. A lot of twistees going up the mountain and then head south on Skyline. Once we get up to Skyline we usually stop for lunch on Rt 211 in between Skyline and Luray before jumping on the drive. We might be able to hook up there. Let me know what you think....

If you are in Bowie, it's about a 40 min ride to Clinton Cycles. If you end up in Springfield, you might want to hook up with us at the rest stop on Rt 66 just prior to Manassas.

I'm in Richmond at the moment and don't get back til late saturday night. I'll check with the office tomorrow and if I'm not working sunday, I'll meet up with you at the rest area on 66. I'll know more tomorrow night.
Remember; no matter where you go, there you are.

I figure if we roll out by 9:30 we should hit that rest area around 10:00....

Not looking good for me at the moment; they want me in for 4 hours tomorrow. I'm still trying to acquire the "stomach flu" as an excuse, but at this point I'll probably have to pass. If that changes at the last minute, I'll be there at 10:00 and be looking for Triumphs. If not, have a great ride.

Hey guy's, just saw tomorrows weather. They are still calling for sunny and upper 70's. Should be beatiful up on the mountain. Just remember that it tends to be at least 10 degrees cooler once you are up top so dress accordingly. Please make sure your tanks are gassed up before you get to Clinton so we don't have to stop immediately.... See ya in the AM.. Gene

I am seriously bummed that I couldn't make this ride. Please add to my misery and let me know that you had a great time. Pictures included will add to the salt in the wound.
Next time, I'm going to tell the boss to go... uh... do something!!!
Sorry I missed it, hope it was a good time.

Well, I've finally returned home and I am wiped out. I did about 600 miles total between 9am and midnight with a few stops for fuel, bathroom, and food, plus our hour or so for lunch at the Brookside Diner/Inn/whatever (I can't remember what it was but the food was pretty good). Doing most of Skyline drive and the whole run from the northern end of the BRP to Fancy Gap, VA is tiring but it is a very nice run.
It was great to meet and ride with everyone that showed up. I'm glad that I was able to find Clinton Cycles before you all took off.

Greg,
Nice meeting and riding with. Just as you pulled up at Clinton we had just started the engines and were getting ready to roll. Glad you made it. With the pace of traffic up on the mountain, I didn’t think you would be able to make it in one shot. Thanks for putting up the post that you made it back OK. Yep it’s the Brookside and we make it a point of stopping there for lunch. It also gives us a chance to ride Rt 211 on both sides of the mountain. I really like that road.
