I would love to have a new 4-wheel Triumph. But BMW already has a couple of sportcars, so I can't see them doing this.
Blue '03 TBA, Made in England. (50+ mpg).

I could see them doing this. If they can use common components with say the Z4, but a distinctive body, they could make a killing. There are lots of people who, just like the Mini, would love a Brit car, especially a roadster, even if once you look past the skin you find a BMW engine or tranny. Not sure how the MG's are doing currently, but I've seen a couple of them in Germany and they were drop dead gorgeous....

BMW did a great job on the Mini. My wife's girlfriend just bought a used S model Mini - very cool / fun little car. If they do a Triumph, I bet it would be equally well done. Great looking concept car too. Makes me wanna go fire the old TC in the barn. (Mosquitoes take note!)

Seems like I remember in the late 70's the TR7 campaign was "the shape of things to come" pitching their wedge shaped roadster. Now that it's true that it was the shape of things to come, would they be guilty of copying themselves? I'll wait for Triumph's artist's concept drawings.

The round headlights which are raised above the grill are a nice styling cue reminisicent of the TR4 and all, but yes, the rear end does look very similar to the Pontiac Solstice and to me doesn't carry over any Triumph styling cues from their past models. And the flanks of this design exercise aren't very inspired either, in my book anyway.

So? BMW is not British Motor Works. Rather it is German,  i.e., Deutch as in

After a trip to London in 1965 my dad went to Bremen and brought home this model Triumph Spitfire dressed in Citadel Blue. After driving it around Bavaria for the remainder of our tour of duty, it sailed back to the US only to be wrecked during delivery in the Port of Charleston. This would have been the car I learned to drive, instead I learned in a 1963 Dodge Dart station wagon  I've waited longingly for the return of this type of Triumph; one can only hope they don't "Foose" out and give the world that item we see pictured above.

I was wondering about that Triumph M/C badge being on this concept car myself, Gina. You're probably right about the car mags bein' a little thick.

Actually, instead o' waitin' 'round for this new Triumph sportscar to appear, I have a little suggestion for ya, buddy!
You know John Bullen, don't cha??? Yeah you know, the guy who took the Budsters old Spitfire and turned it into a little beauty of a thing over in Little Rock a while back, right?!
