Anyone using the rocker gear lever on their America? Just asking for impressions and what installation is like. Thanks.

Installation is pretty simple....straight swop for the standard lever. It's a 'personal choice' thing on whether you like it or not. I could never get on with using my heel to change gear...prefer to use the standard set up. There was one on Ebay a day or two back, if you're interested maybe do a search ??

I'll second that the unit is awkward to use for me due to its small size. Now with that said I bought one from a member here that he did major mods to and it works fine. Try one before you buy one if you can.

Thanks, everyone. I'm glad I asked. I'll stick with the standard setup.

When I bought my bike it came with the rocker gear lever. At first it was kind of arkward but soon I got use to it. Now that I have had my bike for over three years I do not think I would return to the original set up.

I've had the rocker on since I got the bike, and ride a lot in heavy traffic. I'm either steppin' on the front of it, or the back of it, but it's always a step down. Easy enough to get accustomed to, and I can always use it as a normal set-up if I want - - but I would not do without it now.

Anyone here bidding on that eBay rocker gear lever? I'm going to unless I'd be stepping on any toes.

My Kingpin has the heel-toe shifter with floorboards. Personally, I don't use the heel, but do appreciate the floorboards.

John, I have the Triumph heel toe shifter and floor boards. It was on the bike and I got used to it pretty quickly. It's nice for a cruiser set up. I have an America with the standard toe shift. It's more of a hot rod bike and I like it better on that bike. The only compliant on the heel toe shifter and the floor boards was that there was very little adjustability. I would have changed the angle on the floor boards but couldn't. Now I've gotten used to them and they seem natural. Anybody remember getting on an older Triumph after riding a Japanese bike, and downshifting instead of braking? It could be quite exciting for a few seconds.

I really prefer my heel-toe. I know the die-hards will disagree, but it's also nice to not have black marks on the top of your expensive dress shoes when you ride your bike to work.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I only wear suits to marry 'em and bury 'em - and then I usually have on tennis shoes or motorcicle boots.
